Senior Software Engineer (Remote - UK)

In this role, you will contribute to the design and development of a high-performance policy engine platform that processes millions of identities and delivers low-latency, real-time access decisions. You will work in a fully remote UK-based engineering team, collaborating with product managers, UI/UX designers, architects, and data scientists to implement scalable microservices. Your work will ensure that the platform is robust, maintainable, and efficient, while supporting AI-enabled features. This position provides opportunities to take technical ownership, mentor peers, and influence the roadmap of critical backend services. You will operate in a highly collaborative environment with occasional in-person meetups, contributing directly to the success of a globally distributed platform. The role demands strong expertise in backend systems, distributed architectures, and cloud-native development.

Accountabilities:
• Design, implement, and maintain backend microservices with a focus on performance, reliability, and scalability.
• Collaborate with product management, UI/UX, and architects to deliver high-quality features.
• Develop unit and end-to-end tests to ensure robust, maintainable code.
• Participate in code reviews and provide technical guidance to peers.
• Contribute to the architecture and evolution of the policy engine, ensuring efficient real-time processing.
• Collaborate with data science and AI teams to integrate AI-enabled features.
• Participate in on-call support rotations to ensure service reliability.

Requirements

 • 5+ years of professional software development experience.
• Expertise in Golang, including concurrency, goroutines, and channels.
• Strong experience with microservices and SaaS architectures.
• Proficiency in testing and debugging strategies, including unit, integration, and performance profiling.
• Collaborative, approachable, and strong communication skills.
• BSc in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.
• Preferred: experience with policy languages (Rego or Cedar), cloud databases (DynamoDB, Aurora, Snowflake), data streaming tools (Flink, Kafka), Java or Python, and CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, CloudBees).
