We’re looking for an exceptional backend developer to join Recorded Future’s Backend Services team. As a Senior Software Engineer, you’ll work alongside a talented group of engineers who are passionate about building distributed systems, working with rich and complex data, and designing elegant APIs. Our team owns core parts of the platform, including both internal and external APIs, data indexing, the Intelligence Graph data model, and key pieces of our code infrastructure. We aim to make our data as actionable and comprehensive as possible, while also having fun along the way.

In this role, you’ll help develop high-quality software in a fast-moving environment, working close to our global clients and their needs. Together, we’ll evolve our product to meet growing demands, with a strong focus on scalability and quality. You’ll also have opportunities to experiment with new technologies and explore solutions to real-world challenges in threat analytics. You’ll be part of a dynamic, curious, and collaborative team that loves taking on new challenges.

What you will be doing:

  • Solve exciting and complex problems with diverse scope related to vast data volumes, real-time analysis, and threat intelligence
  • Work together with our product teams to understand and deliver expected results
  • Continuously design, develop and deploy backend services with focus on high availability, great quality, low latency and scalability
  • Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions
  • Measure and evaluate features and system metrics to continuously improve data quality and service performance
  • Support DevOps activities
  • Take initiatives and collaborate across teams
  • Be proactive, go beyond expectations

What you will need:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a software engineer
  • Experience handling both research and development in a data driven environment
  • Deep understanding of high throughput data processing and event driven designs
  • Experience with data analytics and data processing
  • Strong coding skills with high proficiency in and/or Scala / Java 
  • Ability to learn other coding languages as needed
  • Experience and comfort in API development
  • Architect and develop solutions to ambiguous problems with significant impact
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively advocate technical solutions to research scientists, engineering teams, and business audiences
  • Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent education/work experience
  • Strong English skills are a must

Bonus points for:

  • Experience in software libraries for Data pipelines and technologies such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, MongoDB, Elasticsearch, Docker, AWS, Kubernetes, Spark, InfluxDB
  • Knowledge of LLM based technologies such as OpenAI, etc 
  • Experience from a DevOps/GitOps role/org
  • Agentic coding experience
