About the Role:

We’re growing our engineering team and hiring a Senior Software Engineer to join Ofload.

We are looking for a Senior Engineer that gets excited to leverage AI to ship quality code faster, challenge the status quo, prototype and scope product requirements, system design, and partner with teams to drive better business outcomes. 

At the core of our tech stack are PHP 8 and Laravel, serving APIs to a SPA built with TypeScript, React, and our in-house design system, Sinble; as well as our integration API clients. Our core monolith is complemented by a small handful of microservices, and our data is stored in Postgres, S3, Redis and Typesense. We host our Kubernetes clusters on AWS, and embrace infra-as-code (Helm, Terraform).

What you’ll do:

• Architect & Influence: Partner with your Tech Lead and squad to design resilient systems within our Laravel/React ecosystem that scale.
• Level Up the Team: Mentor mid-level and junior engineers, fostering a culture of high engineering standards, observability, and "getting behind the wheel."
• Collaborate: Work closely with your team. Instead of just building to spec, ask thoughtful questions to understand the 'why,' investigate unusual workflows, and help your squad scope features that genuinely solve real-world problems for shippers and carriers.
  

Examples of what you will work on:

• You’ll build the next phase of shipper integrations to support our growing customer base.
• Build pricing primitives that are flexible so new pricing models doesn’t require rearchitecting everything.
• Design and build complex data structures that perform as we scale.
  

You’ll fit in if:

• Minimum of 2 years experience as a Senior Engineer, with 5-6 years overall experience building and maintaining production systems.
• You’re a Product Engineer: You care about the customer journey as much as the database schema.
• Edge cases excite you: You aren't satisfied with the "happy path." You look for the weird, the abnormal, and the broken
• Data driven: Experience with relational databases, schemas and how to make it perform at scale.
• You default to the backend, but know your way around the whole stack: Strong PHP and Laravel or similar experience.  Practical experience with TypeScript/React or modern front-end frameworks.
• Your excited by AI: understanding when to leverage and when not to.
• You love solving hard problems - Ability to break down problems, propose solutions, and take ownership of features from conception to delivery.
