Senior Software Engineer - Motion Planning Collision Avoidance

Zoox is looking for a software engineer to join our Collision Avoidance System Motion planning team. In this role, you will be responsible for bringing cutting edge collision avoidance decision making and prediction systems into production. This is a multidisciplinary role that will include responsibilities in and exposure to safety-critical system engineering, perception, prediction, and motion planning all with a focus on robustness and low latency. You will be at the forefront of defining safety for cutting-edge AI software in real world environments. In this role, you will:
  • Build collision avoidance software for motion planning, decision making, and prediction
  • Lead the technical direction of software projects, define architecture, and develop new algorithms.
  • Design, develop, and review complex software components, ensure code quality and maintainability. 
  • Help define and develop robust probabilistic decision making algorithms
  • Identify and resolve complex technical challenges, analyze data to identify potential issues. 
  • Qualifications
  • PhD + 3 years of related experience or Masters + 7 years
  • Strong background in computer science, especially coding in c++
  • Have experience of real-time system, especially latency handling
  • Must be a team player with good communication skills and be able to guide the team member through software architecture design, experience with mentoring team members
  • Past experience of Autonomous driving or robotics industry
  • Bonus Qualifications
  • Experience with writing functional requirements driven code and familiar with formal verification & validation techniques
  • Hands-on experience with Bayesian Estimation Techniques such as Kalman Filters
  • Experience with existing Advanced Driver-Assistance System (ADAS) technologies, including adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, lane-following, automated lane changing
