Company Overview:
Lean Tech is a rapidly expanding organization situated in Medellín, Colombia. We pride ourselves on possessing one of the most influential networks within software development and IT services for the entertainment, financial, and logistics sectors. Our corporate projections offer many opportunities for professionals to elevate their careers and experience substantial growth. Joining our team means engaging with expansive engineering teams across Latin America and the United States, contributing to cutting-edge developments in multiple industries.
We are seeking a Senior Software Engineering Manager to serve as the primary people leader and delivery owner for a modern Transportation Management System (TMS). The core mandate of this position is to unify engineering leadership, coach developers into a high-performing team, and significantly improve throughput and quality standards. The ideal candidate is a technically credible leader who can coach engineers on code quality, hold teams accountable, and navigate the friction that comes with rapid growth.
Position Title: Senior Software Engineering Manager
Location: Remote - LATAM (Colombia Preferred)
What you will be doing: As a Senior Software Engineering Manager, you will act as the direct manager for a team of approximately 7–10 software developers, driving a coaching-first philosophy while maintaining daily production deployments with strong quality discipline. Your responsibilities include:
-
Engineering Leadership & People Management: Foster accountability and growth through regular 1:1s and career development planning. Build camaraderie as the team transitions to a pod-based structure, serving as a stabilizing leader during organizational change.
-
Delivery Ownership & Execution: Own delivery execution to ensure commitments are met with predictable outcomes. Partner with Product and Project Managers to align engineering delivery with business priorities and drive disciplined sprint execution.
-
Technical Leadership & Quality Coaching: Guide engineers on code quality standards, testing best practices, and reducing defect leakage. Support a daily production deployment cadence and collaborate with Architects to align development with CI/CD flows.
-
Process & Operational Excellence: Own JIRA as the system of record (ticket lifecycle, JQL, dashboards). Champion CI/CD best practices using Azure DevOps, ensuring end-to-end automated daily deployments and alignment with QA for release readiness.
Performance Metrics: Drive the team toward clear success indicators: doubling development throughput by next year and reducing defect rates from ~30% to ~12%. Requirements & Qualifications: To excel in this role, you should possess:
Experience: 3+ years managing software engineers in a SaaS, product, or platform environment. Proven ability to lead teams through growth and change.
Technical Knowledge: Solid working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps) and experience with frequent/daily deployment environments.
Agile Expertise: Strong understanding of Agile principles with a pragmatic approach to process adaptation.
English Proficiency: Near-native English communication skills for seamless collaboration with U.S.-based teams.
Soft Skills: A people-first leader (not a task manager) who is comfortable having tough conversations, delivery-driven, and technically confident to challenge assumptions.
Preferred: Background as a software engineer earlier in your career; experience in logistics or TMS platforms; experience managing remote/distributed teams.
