Role Summary
Our Sophos Central Management (CM) Team is looking for developers who possess excellent programming skills and have prior experience in the network security field. We are looking for a backend developer for managing and advancing our cloud-based network security platform that handles tens of thousands of devices and customers. You will build features from the ground up using sound design principles around security and scale.
Sophos CM team builds a cloud-based management solution for Sophos Firewalls, enabling customers to securely configure, monitor, and manage distributed firewall deployments individually or in groups. The team is responsible for designing and delivering highly available, performance-driven microservices, ensuring seamless integration with Sophos Central, and providing enterprise-grade visibility and control. We work in an agile environment, driving innovation in network security and cloud management.
What you will do
Be able to interact with product managers and Senior Leads to define the feature and write clear functional specs.
Work with the frontend team to define the API contracts for the backend services. Work on critical field escalations and drive closure.
Work on features for the product roadmap.
Work with Junior developer as a lead to ensure timely delivery and technical assistance
What you will bring
- 7+ years of overall experience
- Hands-on experience developing commercial software using Java and Spring Boot.

Experience with Golang is a plus

Strong design expertise with a focus on reusability, modularity, and scalability

Solid understanding of data structures and algorithms

Good knowledge of microservices architecture, along with SQL and NoSQL databases

Experience in the network security domain and protocols is required
- Experience with AWS cloud infrastructure is preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field
