Senior Software Engineer II - Client Activation

AI overview

Own and evolve critical client activation systems, enhancing client trust and retention while building reliable infrastructure for scheduling and appointment notifications.

About Us:

Grow Therapy is on a mission to serve as the trusted partner for therapists growing their practice, and patients accessing high-quality care. Powered by technology, we are a three-sided marketplace that empowers providers, augments insurance payors, and serves patients. Following the mass increase in depression and anxiety, the need for accessibility is more important than ever. To make our vision for mental healthcare a reality, we’re building a team of entrepreneurs and mission-driven go-getters. Since launching in February 2021, we’ve empowered more than ten thousand therapists and hundreds of thousands of clients across the country and insurance landscape. We’ve raised more than $178mm of funding from Sequoia Capital, Transformation Capital, TCV, SignalFire, and others.

The Opportunity:

We’re hiring a Senior Software Engineer II to own and evolve the systems that power critical client activation flows at Grow, including scheduling, appointment notifications, and post booking experiences. In this role, you’ll take end to end ownership of highly operational systems that span backend jobs, third party integrations, and client state.

You’ll join a team responsible for some of the most trust building moments in the client journey. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys working in complex systems, diagnosing ambiguous issues, and building reliable infrastructure that supports both day to day operations and long term scale.

Why the Role Matters

Client Activation sits at the center of client trust and retention. Systems like scheduling, authentication and notifications directly impact whether clients show up to care, feel supported, and continue using the platform. As Grow scales, these systems become more complex, with asynchronous workflows, multiple third party vendors, and increasingly nuanced client state.

This role exists to uplevel the reliability, observability, and ownership of Client Activation systems. By building durable infrastructure and clear diagnostic paths, this engineer ensures that the team can resolve issues quickly, reduce escalation, and continue making progress on roadmap and experimentation work without being blocked by operational burden. The impact of this role is measured not just in features shipped, but in trust earned with Clients and Providers.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Design and evolve scalable, reliable backend systems that support high availability and performance across critical product workflows
  • Own appointment and notification systems end to end, including backend jobs, workflows, and integrations
  • Improve the reliability, performance, and observability of the Client Activation surface area
  • Partner closely with Product and Data Science to translate Client Activation goals into technical designs and execution plans
  • Contribute to technical planning and help shape longer term technical direction for Client Activation
  • Use data deeply to instrument systems, measure impact, and continuously optimize performance of our scheduling, appointment notifications, and post booking experiences

You’ll Be a Good Fit If:

  • 6+ years of professional software engineering experience with ownership of production systems
  • Strong backend engineering experience, Python preferred
  • Experience building or maintaining asynchronous systems, background jobs, or event driven workflows
  • Strong debugging and diagnostic skills across distributed systems
  • Comfort working with third party APIs and integrations
  • Ability to operate independently in ambiguous, operationally complex problem spaces
  • Product-minded approach with an understanding of how technical decisions impact user experience and business outcomes
  • Ability to collaborate closely with cross-functional partners, including Product, Design, and Data Science
  • A bias toward ownership, speed, learning, and continuous improvement

Role Details:

  • Employment Type: Full Time, Exempt (or Non-Exempt)
  • Base Compensation: The base compensation range for this position is $200,000–$250,000 USD Annually.
