Job Overview:
Ocient is looking for an experienced Software Engineer to join the Connectors and Integrations team. This position will design, build, and maintain Ocient’s ecosystem of database drivers and client integrations, ensuring our JDBC and Python drivers are performant and our platform connects seamlessly with tools like Tableau, DBeaver, and Metabase.

Ideal candidates are passionate about the customer experience, usability, and building high performance software, and are strong collaborators with teams across Product, Sales, and Engineering.

Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and validate Ocient’s suite of database drivers (JDBC, Python) and application integrations that leverage this software.
• Collaborate across engineering teams and customer engagements to deliver client software that provides a high-quality user experience.
• Program in multiple languages, including Java, C++, and Python, to build and support database drivers and integrations, including but not limited to Metabase, Tableau, and DBeaver.
• Work closely with Sales, Product, and End Customers to ensure business success.

Qualifications:

• 3+ years of relevant industry experience.
• Strong fundamental computer science skills.
• Significant experience developing Database APIs, Integrations, and Drivers, particularly those interfacing with the JDBC or ODBC API.
• Experience developing applications using Linux networking APIs
• The ability to own, communicate, and manage risk associated with large complex problems.

An ideal candidate will have:

• A “polyglot” skill set with a demonstrated ability and desire to work across different domains and problems. This position requires picking up and building in new languages and systems quickly.
• Experience developing high performance distributed systems in C++ or Java.
• Experience developing and maintaining SSO integrations such as EntraID and GCP.
• Desire to work in a fast paced, startup environment with a highly collaborative team.
• Strong sense of urgency and commitment to customer success.
