About the role:

As a Senior Software Engineer at Skillz, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead the development of complex, multi-disciplinary applications. From large-scale consumer-facing applications to entirely new technologies and products, Skillz’s engineers support and power the platform that makes eSport possible for everyone.

What you'll do:

• Develop complex, highly available, distributed, cloud-based solutions and maintain its high level of quality software
• Develop industry-leading technology to enable competitions, tournaments, and social features for players, spectators, and streamers worldwide.
• Consistently drives very high-impact projects to completion that include components required by teams across the organization.
• Collaborate with teammates who care about building great products as much as you do

Role Requirement

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/ similar field or equivalent work experience.
• 5+ years of professional work experience in one or more programming languages: Golang, Go, Java, or C++.
• Strong experience with distributed, multi-tiered systems, caching mechanisms, and relational databases.
• Proficient in working with Cloud Providers such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes or similar containers
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment.
• Professional Software Engineering experience with a background in object-oriented programming and cloud service, such as AWS, Azure, and GCP.
• Experience designing and optimising MySQL or other RDBMS databases and NoSQL technologies.
• Experience balancing or correcting technology debt while continuously delivering value to customers. 
• Demonstrates responsibility for the quality of your team's work while nurturing this same value in their team.
• Outstanding knowledge of public cloud providers and emerging service architectures.
