We are seeking a Backend Software Engineer for our Transactions team. You will join a team that powers business growth for our customers by focusing on increasing their bottom line by building a world-class payment experience and providing tools that increase their revenue.

This is a hybrid role working from our NYC office 3 days per week. You will report to the Software Engineering Manager.

You'll Get To…

  • Write server-side code, create high-volume production applications, and develop prototypes quickly.
  • Lead the development of new features and build backend services with Java.
  • Collaborate with other engineers and designers to provide intuitive customer-focused experiences.
  • Ensure the reliability of systems essential to Squarespace users and businesses powered by Squarespace.
  • Practice disciplined software engineering (e.g. automated testing, code reviews, and writing beautiful, readable code).

Who We're Looking For

  • 7+ years of development experience in Java, Python, Go or another Object-oriented language. Experience developing large-scale software.
  • A solid foundation in computer science, with competencies in data structures, algorithms, and software design practices.
  • A sincere commitment to creating readable code and an understanding of database schema design, caching and scalability.
  • A degree in Computer Science or related or equivalent industry experience.

Cash Compensation Range: $128,500 – $231,500 USD

The base salary for this position will vary based on job-related criteria including relevant skills, experience, and location, among other factors.

In addition to the cash compensation above (which includes base salary and, where applicable for eligible roles, may include overtime pay), Squarespace employees are eligible to be granted an option to purchase our common stock. Sales positions generally offer a competitive On Target Earnings (OTE) incentive structure in addition to base salary.
