The Web Experiences team at MongoDB owns the platform and experiences for our flagship website, www.mongodb.com. Our team sits within the Marketing Strategy and Operations organization at MongoDB and builds global web experiences that help MongoDB connect with developers and technology leaders around the world. We build reusable systems and components that help us scale our impact including design systems, authoring tools, localization pipelines, form processors, experimentation systems and personalization workflows.

The Role

This is a Senior Software Development Engineer role for the mongodb.com Web Experiences team and will report to the Engineering Manager aka Software Development Lead. 

Senior Engineers help transform the web experiences and the platform, working with a team of full stack engineers, infrastructure team, designers and publishers to produce immersive and compelling web experiences powering an average of 2 million plus monthly user views, while also delivering a wide variety of capabilities to internal content producers via a headless CMS.

We are looking to speak to candidates who are based in Dublin for our hybrid working model.

What you will do

• Balance priorities between technical leadership and system architecture (roughly 50%), and hands-on work (remaining 50%) on multiple web applications & systems
• Support the Engineering Manager in quarterly planning for platform and innovation-heavy initiatives 
• Partner with the Engineering manager, Product manager and Scrum master to help manage our Agile sprints
• Lead complex projects either individually or with small working groups of two or three engineers, depending on the scope of the project
• Participate in product and architecture discussions and write technical spec docs for large projects assigned by your manager
• Work cross-functionally with engineering, product, design, publishing, SEO, analytics & infrastructure teams to turn functional requirements into technical specifications
• Provide logical, thorough review of the team’s code, provide technical documentation and  make recommendations on how to improve our code, infrastructure and software development processes
• Manage and optimize CI/CD pipelines to ensure rapid and reliable deployments
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues
• Provide technical mentorship to entry-level and mid-level engineers
• Be a role model for engineering best practices and promote those practices
• Participate in our on call rotation shared with other full time engineers

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional experience in building production-ready web sites or web applications, including 2+ years at a medium to large enterprise
• Proficiency in modern Javascript / Typescript frameworks preferably Next.js, React, Express and Node.js
• Strong experience with CI/CD deployment pipelines with services like Drone, Github, AWS, Docker, Kubernetes as well as application monitoring
• Experience with a headless CMS (Contentstack or any other similar)
• Have independently and proactively worked at every level of the stack to build optimized, performant, resilient and scalable global websites
• Enjoys collaborating cross-functionally with other engineers, analysts, designers, product managers, and other stakeholders in a fast-paced, agile environment
• Enjoys providing technical mentorship for more junior engineers
• Experience writing and reviewing technical specs 
• Track record of developing, releasing, and monitoring highly complex features
• Excellent problem-solving as well as written and oral communication skills
• Experience working remotely with globally distributed teams
• Experience working with Jira and with applying SCRUM/Agile development principles 
• Experience with AI coding tools and a desire to utilize them for improved efficiency

Nice-to-have:

• Experience with CMS migrations
• Contentstack experience would be a big bonus
• Knowledge of UI/UX best practices
• Bonus points if you've worked in both large enterprise and startup environments
• Experience with on call rotations
