Senior Software Developer (Data & AI)

Primary Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain software applications on GCP platform, ensuring their quality and performance.
  • Design, build and develop ETL pipelines consolidating various data sources (streaming or batch) into application specific Data Warehouses
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data engineers, data analysts, and business stakeholders, to understand requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
  • Work with GCP tools such as BigQuery, Cloud Dataform, Looker to build data pipelines and visualizations.
  • Develop and maintain data models and schema designs to optimize data storage and retrieval.
  • Translate requirements into conceptual and detailed designs with estimates
  • Ensure compliance with data privacy and security regulations.
  • Participate in code reviews, testing, and troubleshooting to ensure software quality.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to other team members.

Requirements

  • 7+ years experience developing reliable, highly available and scalable software
  • Strong knowledge of GCP tools such as BigQuery, Looker, Dataform, Vertex AI.
  • Proficient in SQL.
  • Experience in programming languages such as Go, Python.
  • Experience with data modelling and schema design.
  • Knowledge of data privacy and security regulations
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience mentoring and providing technical guidance to other team members.

Assets

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field. 
  • GCP Platform to add: Dataplex, Dataproc, Composer, Pub/Sub
  • Research or work experience in AI, automation and/or Data Engineering
  • Good understanding of Design Patterns in programming languages such as Java, Go
  • Experience with an additional Cloud platforms (AWS)
  • Experience in a continuous delivery model
  • Experience in building APIs
  • Experience with event based and messaging systems
  • Interest in Data Mining, Machine learning, AI, etc.
