AI in Action: Your Role

We’re looking for a Senior Software Developer who builds software in an AI first development environment.

At Bold, our expectation is that AI generates the majority of our code, with developers guiding, validating, and shaping the output. This role is not about occasionally using AI tools. It is about pushing them to their limits.

You will be working on a complex ecommerce application where integrating AI into the development process can be challenging and requires thoughtful experimentation. Success in this role requires curiosity, persistence, and genuine excitement for solving hard technical problems. We are looking for someone who enjoys figuring out what is possible with AI when the answer is not obvious and who is comfortable experimenting until something works.

You will also help champion AI driven development by sharing ideas, experimenting with new tools, and helping uncover new possibilities.

If you already use AI heavily in your daily development workflow and often experiment with it outside of work, you will likely thrive in this environment.

Your Mission

• Use AI tools to generate the majority of application code, validating and refining outputs to ensure correctness, security, and architectural alignment.
• Push the boundaries of what AI can do within a complex legacy system, solving difficult integration and workflow challenges.
• Experiment with new AI tools, prompting strategies, and development workflows to continuously improve how we build software.
• Identify opportunities where AI can accelerate development, testing, and debugging.
• Work through ambiguous or technically challenging problems with persistence and curiosity.
• Share insights with the team and help champion an AI-first development mindset.
• Contribute to system architecture, ensuring both AI-generated and human-written code remain scalable and maintainable.

Who Thrives Here

• 7+ years of professional software development experience.
• Strong experience with PHP (Laravel) and Go, plus modern frontend technologies.
• Hands-on experience building and integrating Shopify apps and APIs.
• You already use AI extensively in your development workflow, not occasionally, but as a core part of how you build software.
• You enjoy experimenting with AI tools, prompting techniques, and automation workflows.
• You’re comfortable tackling complex technical challenges where AI doesn’t work perfectly out of the box.
• You bring curiosity, persistence, and a willingness to solve problems others may avoid.
