Senior Software Architect – Agentic AI & Cloud Platforms
Location: India (Bangalore / Remote Hybrid)
Company: Picarro
Role Overview
Picarro is seeking a highly accomplished Senior Software Architect to lead the design and evolution of our next-generation intelligent platforms. This role sits at the intersection of Agentic AI, cloud-native architecture, and real-time data systems, enabling cutting-edge scientific instrumentation and analytics products.
You will define architectural strategy, guide engineering teams, and build scalable, intelligent systems that integrate AI-driven decision-making with high-throughput data pipelines. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who thrives in deep technical problem-solving while influencing organization-wide engineering direction.
What You’ll Do
-
Architect Next-Gen Platforms:
Design and scale distributed, cloud-native systems supporting real-time data ingestion, processing, and AI-driven workflows. -
Lead Agentic AI Integration:
Drive architecture for agent-based AI systems (autonomous decisioning, orchestration, and reasoning frameworks) embedded into core products. -
Own Data & Streaming Architecture:
Define and optimize event-driven systems leveraging Kafka and streaming pipelines for high-volume, low-latency data. -
Hands-on Technical Leadership:
Provide deep technical guidance in Java and Python ecosystems, setting best practices for design, performance, and scalability. -
Cloud & Platform Strategy:
Architect and evolve cloud infrastructure (AWS/Azure/GCP), focusing on resilience, observability, and cost efficiency. -
Cross-Functional Influence:
Partner with product, hardware, and data science teams to translate complex requirements into scalable software architectures. -
Mentor & Elevate Engineering Talent:
Coach senior engineers and drive architectural rigor, design reviews, and engineering excellence across teams.
What We’re Looking For
Core Technical Expertise
- 15+ years in software engineering with significant experience in architecting large-scale distributed systems
- Deep expertise in:
- Java (Spring Boot / microservices architecture)
- Python (data pipelines, AI/ML integration)
- Kafka / event streaming platforms
- Strong experience with cloud-native systems (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Proven track record building high-throughput, low-latency systems
Agentic AI & Modern Systems
- Hands-on experience or strong exposure to:
- Agentic AI frameworks / LLM-based systems
- Autonomous workflows, orchestration, and reasoning systems
- Familiarity with ML pipelines, model integration, or AI-driven architectures
Architecture & Leadership
- Demonstrated ability to define and drive end-to-end architecture strategy
- Strong system design skills across microservices, APIs, and distributed data systems
- Experience influencing and mentoring senior engineers and tech leads
Nice to Have
- Experience with scientific instrumentation, IoT, or hardware-software integrated systems
- Knowledge of real-time analytics, telemetry, or sensor data platforms
- Exposure to containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Background in data engineering or MLOps
- Strong capability to define solution-level data models and end-to-end data architecture spanning analyzers/instrument telemetry, on-prem systems, and cloud software platforms
Why This Role is Compelling
- Work on cutting-edge Agentic AI systems applied to real-world scientific and industrial challenges
- Influence platform architecture at a company level, not just a single product
- Operate at the intersection of hardware, software, and AI
- High visibility role with direct impact on Picarro’s next phase of innovation
