About role

As a Senior SAP ABAP Engineer you will be playing a key role in building the backend of a cloud-based SaaS platform built on S/4HANA technologies. In this role, you will develop and maintain scalable, secure and high-performance components that meet our clients’ needs. Your expertise will play a crucial role in delivering innovative solutions and enhancing the functionality of our Fioneer offerings. If you enjoy solving complex technical problems, ensure a clean-core and want to contribute to a next-generation SaaS platform, this role is for you. As a Senior Engineer you will also share your experience with junior colleagues and be take part in their further education and development.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain scalable and secure backend components for innovative lending solutions built on ABAP and further SAP technologies.
• Build high-quality standard software in an agile environment, collaborating directly with internal stakeholders, customers and partners.
• Partner closely with front-end developers, designers, and product owners to deliver end-to-end solutions.
• Debug, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues.
• Ensure engineering excellence through structured testing (unit, integration, UAT support), adherence to clean code principles and continuous improvements.
• Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation.
• Stay up to date with innovations in S/4HANA, RAP, and SAP BTP.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
• 7+ years of experience in ABAP object-oriented development (experience in financial sector is a plus).
• Proficiency in OData, Core Data Services (CDS), and ABAP RESTful Application Programming (RAP) is mandatory.
• Practical experience with SAP BTP (its services, deployment approach, and integration concepts).
• Familiarity with modern SAP development tools such as Business Application Studio (BAS), Eclipse, Visual Studio preferred.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to break down technical complexity.
• Strong communication skills with ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
• Fluency in English.

Nice-to-have

• Experience with banking products and processes (e.g., retail lending, regulatory reporting).
• Full-stack experience with SAP UI5 & Fiori for designing modern and responsive user interfaces.
• Some experience in SAP HANA DB.
• Prior exposure to event-driven architecture and integration patterns on SAP BTP.
• Experience working in agile environments (Scrum / SAFe) and in international teams.
