Intelligent Insurer is looking for a confident and highly motivated Senior Reporter to join our international editorial team. This freelance role is ideal for a journalist who can work independently, hit deadlines consistently and produce insightful coverage of the global re/insurance industry.

You’ll report directly to the Editor and take day-to-day ownership of producing unique, accurate and relevant content that delivers real value to subscribers.

Requirements

What you’ll be doing

As our Senior Reporter, you will:

• Research, break and write engaging daily news stories
• Produce high-quality features based on financial data and company analysis
• Develop original editorial ideas from concept to publication
• Interview senior executives and build strong industry relationships
• Turn press releases and reports into compelling editorial content
• Upload stories across multiple CMS platforms
• Support the production and distribution of newsletters
• Source and edit images using Canva or similar tools
• Apply SEO best practice to maximise visibility and reach
• Help keep event and publication content up to date online

You’ll be a great fit if you have

• 5+ years’ experience as a senior reporter or editor
• Good news sense and headline writing ability.
• Proven ability to write clean, accurate copy at pace
• Experience working with press releases, raw news feeds, and transforming them into engaging stories
• Solid editorial judgement and the confidence to pitch original angles
• A deep understanding of data and financial reports in the context of large companies.
• The ability to translate this information into unique, readable reports and features.
• A strong grasp of digital publishing, SEO, and CMS tools (e.g. WordPress, Wix, Blaze)
• Image sourcing and editing skills (Canva or similar)
• The ability to manage competing deadlines calmly and professionally
• Excellent organisational and communication skills, telephone manner
• A sharp eye for detail and a commitment to editorial integrity
• Degree level qualification in media, journalism or related subjects
• Fluent English speaker
• Proficient at using different IT systems including Microsoft Office, Google G-Suite, website CMS’s (WordPress or similar) and able to pick up technology easily
