Senior Quality Engineer (Regulatory)

$97,500 – $117,000 per year

Job Summary:

The Senior Quality Engineer leads cross-functional quality initiatives across the value chain to ensure robust product realization, compliance, and production readiness. This role is responsible for resolving complex quality issues, interpreting and aligning technical and regulatory requirements, and driving systemic improvements across supply chain, production, and customer performance.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

Complex Problem Resolution & Systemic Improvement

  • Lead resolution of complex issues across supply chain, internal production, and customer/field performance
  • Drive permanent corrective actions using RCCA, eliminating systemic defect drivers and recurring issues
  • Lead improvements in process capability, defect reduction, and cost of poor quality (COPQ)
  • Identify and resolve gaps between regulatory requirements and operational execution to ensure sustainable compliance across the value chain

Technical Requirements Interpretation & Integration

  • Interpret engineering, customer, and regulatory requirements (AS9100, FAA/EASA, etc.)
  • Resolve conflicts between design intent, manufacturing capability, and customer expectations
  • Define how requirements are translated into process controls and implemented across production and inspection throughout the value chain
  • Apply FAA and EASA regulatory requirements (e.g., Part 21, Part 145, POA/DOA frameworks) to production, inspection, and release processes
  • Provide technical guidance to engineers and cross-functional teams

Product Realization & Production Readiness

  • Lead quality integration into NPI and production ramp activities
  • Ensure processes are scalable, capable, and aligned with production rate requirements
  • Establish effective control strategies and validation approaches

Customer & Field Quality Leadership

  • Lead customer issue resolution including root cause, corrective action, and communication
  • Analyze field performance and reliability trends
  • Drive feedback loops into engineering, supply chain, and operations

Regulatory & Compliance Integration

  • Ensure alignment with regulatory and customer requirements across the value chain
  • Represent quality in audits and serve as a primary interface with regulatory authorities (FAA, EASA) for audits, inquiries, and approvals
  • Support and maintain regulatory approvals (e.g., FAA Part 21, Part 145, EASA Part 21G/21J), ensuring compliance is integrated into operational processes

Cross-Functional Leadership & Mentorship

  • Lead and influence cross-functional teams to drive alignment and execution
  • Communicate complex issues clearly across technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Mentor and develop engineers in problem solving, requirements application, and process discipline

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 6–10 years of experience in aerospace or regulated manufacturing environments
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Advanced RCCA methodologies
    • Engineering drawings and specifications (GD&T)
    • Aerospace regulatory frameworks (AS9100, FAA, EASA)
  • Demonstrated ability to:
    • Interpret and reconcile complex technical and regulatory requirements
    • Apply regulatory requirements into production, inspection, and release processes
    • Lead cross-functional teams to resolve complex problems
    • Drive systemic improvements across multiple areas of the value chain
    • Influence without direct authority and build alignment across organizations
    • Communicate effectively with technical teams, leadership, customers, and regulators
  • Experience:
    • Direct experience working with regulatory agencies (FAA and/or EASA), including audits, approvals, or compliance activities
    • Experience operating within approved environments (FAA Part 21, Part 145, EASA Part 21G/21J)
    • Experience supporting or operating within a Production Organization Approval (POA) or equivalent
    • Strong analytical, leadership, and decision-making skills

 

Benefits

The starting pay range for this position is $97,500 - $117,000 per year however, base pay offered may vary depending on the level of the position, skills, experience, job-related knowledge, and location.
