Position Overview:

Ocient is searching for a Software Systems Test Lead with strong problem-solving skills and a passion for solving hard problems to help define and implement test strategy to ensure the quality and robustness of Ocient’s cutting-edge data warehouse.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develops and implements test plans and cases to cover system level database features and functionality.
• Develops, executes, and analyzes tests for the database server, specifically focused on the system level features and functionality.
• Provides technical leadership, input, and review for test strategy, planning, and execution within the team.
• Collaborates and communicates with management, internal, and outsourced development partners regarding design status, project progress, and issue resolution
• Provides technical direction for the database testing process and infrastructure development and maintenance.
• Maintains and develops test infrastructure.
• Provides guidance and mentoring to less-experienced staff members.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent.
• Minimum 4-6 years' experience testing a production application, preferably one that uses a database, even better if the application is analytical and experience is in storage layer testing.
• Experience in test planning and creating automated test suites. Using engineering tools and software packages to test, design, and evaluate products and processes.
• Strong analytical, statistical, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong quality assurance methodology/process skills.
• Knowledge of database internals , storage and SQL
• Experience with distributed systems.
• Experience developing test harnesses for distributed systems.
• Coding experience in more than one of the following: Python, Java, C/C++, C#, shell scripting; expertise working with Linux/ Unix, Jira and version control
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills such as the ability to effectively communicate quality plans, proposals, and results, and negotiate options at management levels.
• AWS, GCP or other Cloud database experience.
• Database performance testing.
