Senior Programmer - Machine Learning

Today is an exciting time to be in the game industry. There is rapid advancement in interesting new areas that enable us to build creations that were previously impossible or prohibitively costly. Often it takes significant effort to develop new ideas and experiment with young technologies while also competing for resources with the main development team. At Build a Rocket Boy we are building a dedicated R&D team that will focus on current and future ground-breaking technologies and help build the next generation of games and entertainment products.

As a Senior Programmer, you are a key member of a small R&D team where you will write and maintain complex code and systems. You have an analytical mind and can identify and execute on unique ideas in previously unchartered waters. You can identify and fix performance issues and are comfortable designing and extending large code systems. As an AI/ML engineer, you are comfortable analyzing and building AI models and experimenting with various practical applications for game development. You are a team player, work well with multiple departments in a cross-disciplinary team, and use your experience to mentor and guide junior members of the team.

Responsibilities

• Research, implement, and extend state of the art ML solutions.
• Introduce practical applications of ML/DL models to games and game development tools.
• Stay current on latest research and usage of AI in the game and adjacent industries.
• Work in fast and iterative manner to build and explore unique systems and prototypes.
• Identify and debug complex technical problems.
• Prioritise, plan, and manage the time of assigned tasks with oversight.
• Communicate effectively with other team members and non-technical teams.
• Be vigilant for and report new problems, delays, and risks to the appropriate Lead/Director.

Requirements

• Proven experience training AI models for practical applications.
• Strong Python programming and debugging skills.
• Good algorithm and data structure skills (including time and space complexity and real-world vs theoretical performance of basic data structures).
• Strong understanding of recent trends and research in AI/ML, specifically deep learning and reinforcement learning.
• Self-motivated and driven to creatively solve problems.
