Senior Program Officer – National Programs

 Position Overview

The National Programs unit at LISC includes the following programs: Health, Economic Development, Income and Wealth Building, , Child Care & Early Learning, Safety & Justice, and Sports & Youth Development. 

 

Our unit works to ensure all LISC National Programs are 1) high-quality, self -sustaining, revenue-producing, 2) partnering with local offices on fund development, technical assistance, and sharing of best practices, and 3) supporting high impact in communities that align with LISC’s mission, NorthStar, and strategic priorities. We believe that when LISC’s National Programs support and design community-powered local initiatives centered on learning, and in partnership with local offices and their partners, we will develop strong national programs which are relevant, respectful, and resourceful.

 

Our team is seeking a full time Senior Program Officer to join the National Programs unit. The Senior Program Officer will work under the guidance of the Senior Vice President, National Programs to help drive coordination within the National Programs department, across teams at LISC, and to increase the operational efficiencies of national programs. The ideal candidate has experience in working cross-functionally, project management, balancing multiple priorities simultaneously, building strong relationships, and has a strong understanding of the community development sector.

 

Responsibilities

  • Support SVP National Programs to provide infrastructure for a cohesive national program unit with consistent templates, reporting, and operational excellence.
  • Provide project management support to the National Programs unit as they pursue stronger collaboration to strengthen operations of National Programs as they align with broader business integration efforts.
  • Engage with various LISC business units such as Finance, Development, Communications, CRI and IT, and serve as a liaison for the SVP National Programs.
  • Facilitate meetings for National Programs unit with clear agendas and goals, and a process for following up on activities and agreements.
  • Cultivate relationships with the Market Excellence team and LISC local offices to assess interest and engagement in National Programs and identify or create opportunities to collaborate.
  • Develop systems to support national program activity, growth and engagement including programmatic technical assistance strategies and capacity building efforts.
  • Foster an environment of learning and knowledge sharing across National Programs teams by facilitating opportunities to collaborate, share best practices and pilot test innovations that align with LISC’s strategic plan and maximize community impact.
  • Support fundraising and development activities for all teams across the National Programs unit in coordination with LISC’s Development team, including but not limited to research on program innovation and reviewing concepts.
  • Develop reports and dashboards which highlight the program impact of the National Program unit in alignment with LISC’s business pillars and community impact goals.
  • Other duties as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university in business, finance, urban planning, or relevant work experience. Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Minimum 8 years relevant work experience in nonprofit industry and supporting community development programs.
  • Deep understanding of the community development field and program replication strategies.
  • Proven track record working with a diverse range of individuals and organizations, including but not limited to community-based organizations, corporations, philanthropies, and local government.
  • Capacity for proficient use of applications such as Box, NetSuite, PA, Salesforce, and Jostle.
  • Functional knowledge of nonprofit program budgeting and financials preferred.
  • Experience building relationships, networking and collaborating effectively with ethnically/culturally/socioeconomically diverse populations and community organizations.
  • Strong background in project management.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including presentation and meeting facilitation skills.

 

COMPENSATION:

LISC offers a competitive salary ($81,184-$101,480) and excellent fringe benefits.
