Senior Product Manager, Upstream - Cardiac

TLDR

Drive cardiac surgery product development and commercialization through cross-functional collaboration and market research to meet user needs on an innovative surgical platform.

Primary Function of Position 
You will be a key development and design stage stakeholder on cardiac surgery projects for our Multiport platform. This is an individual contributor role and will be part of a cardiac product management team.

You will work with cross-functional partners to identify needs; define and guide products through the development process; guide future global portfolio recommendations; and work with the commercial downstream teams for product launches. Responsibilities include product business & strategic modeling, product user needs & requirements management, market research, customer interaction, forecasting, pricing, competitive analysis, and new product proposals.

Essential Job Duties 

  • Develop a deep understanding of the surgical treatments for applicable indications, including monitoring and consuming clinical literature, attending medical society meetings, engaging with physician key opinion leaders (KOLs), and observing live robotic cases. Will require both domestic and international travel.
  • Capture, refine, and validate user needs with feedback from customers, the commercial team, and clinical development engineering. Establish design requirements, prioritize design efforts, navigate tradeoffs, and document and communicate design decisions.
  • Assist in managing the product roadmap and lifecycle in alignment with the portfolio objectives. Develop business justification for recommendations and gain alignment across key stakeholders on project prioritization.
  • Use qualitative and quantitative market research methods and direct customer interviews and observations to develop insights that inform product development and the product roadmap.
  • Collaboratively develop global product commercialization plans with global portfolio marketing, regional marketing, and commercial teams.
  • Work with the product engineering and business development teams to evaluate new technologies and prioritize the new business development pipeline.

  • Quantitative mindset, proven ability to investigate open-ended problems, break into first principles analysis, and work cross-functionally to implement initiatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to work creatively amidst competing priorities and smoothly manage multiple competing deadlines and tasks.

Required Education and Training 

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum 5 years in a medical device role and 8 or more years cumulative professional experience in product management, marketing, engineering, business development, or equivalent role

Preferred Skills and Experience 

  • MBA or equivalent experience in role
  • Experience in medical devices for cardiac surgery, interventional cardiology, or related fields
  • 3 years upstream Product Management or equivalent experience in medical device company

We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, benefits, and equity. It would not be typical for someone to be hired at the top end of range for the role, as actual pay will be determined based on several factors, including experience, skills, and qualifications. The target compensation ranges are listed.
