Senior Product Manager - Fraud and Abuse
TLDR
Own a high-impact product domain, shape the roadmap and collaborate with merchants to tackle fraud and abuse in digital commerce while leveraging AI tools.
About the role:
Forter's Fraud and Abuse product team is at the heart of developing Forter's core offering, enabling businesses to make trust decisions about their customers through the entire customer journey. We are looking for a Senior Product Manager based in New York City (hybrid) to join our Offerings Group.
This is a unique opportunity to own a high-impact domain end-to-end — from return abuse and refund fraud to coupon exploitation and loyalty manipulation. You'll shape the product roadmap, build the GTM narrative, and work directly with merchants who deal with these problems every day. You'll develop new features alongside our R&D teams (Engineering and Analytics), build the positioning and packaging alongside our Marketing team, and gather direct feedback from our GTM teams and customers globally on their needs.
If you've lived these problems from the merchant side and you're ready to own the product that solves them, this role was built for you.
What you’ll be doing:
- Roadmap & Strategy: Work closely with the Fraud and Abuse Director (based in Tel Aviv) to define and shape the product roadmap — what gets built, what gaps exist, and what the market needs next. You are the internal expert on how abuse actually works inside a retailer, and you'll translate that expertise into product strategy.
- Feature Release Leadership: Lead the end-to-end release process for new features and capabilities — from internal training to monitoring initial adoption and feedback. You'll ensure releases meet business requirements and land well with merchants and GTM teams alike.
- Agentic AI Integration: Partner with Engineering and Analytics to shape how agentic AI tools are embedded into Forter's product offering — identifying where autonomous, multi-step AI capabilities can enhance the merchant and analyst experience, and translating those opportunities into concrete product features.
- Market Feedback Loop: Build a continuous feedback loop from merchants, GTM teams, and market signals to inform roadmap priorities and identify new opportunities for innovation in the fraud and abuse space.
- GTM Enablement & Deal Support: Act as the primary product point of contact for Sales and Customer Success teams in the NYC office. You'll support complex enterprise deals from a product perspective, present at industry conferences and webinars as Forter's abuse domain expert, and help our teams articulate the value of our solutions to merchants.
- Collateral & Material Creation: Develop the "connective tissue" between product and sales. Alongside the Product Marketing team, you'll create GTM materials, ROI frameworks, product one-pagers, and enablement documentation — making the value of Forter's abuse protection tangible and compelling to enterprise buyers.
What you’ll need:
- Domain Expertise: 5–10 years of experience in fraud and/or abuse, with meaningful time spent at or working directly with large e-commerce merchants or retailers. You have hands-on experience with return abuse, refund fraud, coupon exploitation or loyalty manipulation — and you understand these problems from the merchant's perspective, not just the vendor's.
- Product Ownership: Proven ability to own a full domain end-to-end — defining roadmaps, shipping capabilities, and driving outcomes. We're looking for someone who has led a product area with real autonomy and accountability.
- Communication: Proven ability to communicate effectively — written and verbal — to both technical and non-technical audiences. You're comfortable presenting to enterprise buyers, enabling a sales team, and writing a one-pager that lands with a merchant CFO.
- Collaboration: A natural ability to build relationships across time zones and functions. You'll be the face of the product team in our New York office while maintaining a tight-knit partnership with the team in Tel Aviv — which means you're equally comfortable running a merchant call solo and presenting a roadmap to leadership.
- Technical and Analytical Curiosity: While you don't need to be an engineer, you should be comfortable diving into data, understanding APIs, and learning the "why" behind fraud and abuse patterns — including how organized fraud rings, AI-driven policy exploitation, and cross-merchant attack patterns are evolving.
- Self-Starter Mentality: High autonomy is a feature of this role, not a caveat. You take initiative, operate independently, and hold yourself accountable — without needing to be managed closely across time zones.
