Senior Product Developer - Apparel

TLDR

Lead the development life cycle for men’s woven apparel, ensuring product quality while building strong vendor relationships and mentoring a junior developer.

At Huckberry, we believe the best gear is built to go the distance—items that earn their place in your closet through a blend of timeless style and relentless performance. We’re looking for a Senior Product Developer to take the helm of our Men’s Woven programs; someone who understands that a world-class shirt is the result of both uncompromising craftsmanship and meticulous detail.

You’ll be the day-to-day driver of the development cycle, balancing the art of a perfect fabric hand-feel with the science of a healthy margin. We need a leader who can keep teams aligned and decisions moving, ensuring our products are ready for the trail, the office, and everywhere in between.

This role is based out of our headquarters in Austin, TX; relocation support will be provided to a remote hire.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the full development lifecycle for woven styles/programs, including fabric sourcing, costing, vendor communication, sampling, approvals, testing, bulk readiness, and issue resolution
  • Build and maintain vendor relationships across a mixed network of international and domestic factories/mills, driving development, costing, capacity alignment, and quality standards
  • Lead vendor communication with clear briefs, timelines, follow-ups, risk flags, and escalation when needed
  • Facilitate cross-functional alignment with Design, Production, Tech, Planning, and Buying to drive decisions and keep calendars on track, while protecting design intent and anticipating downstream impacts (quality, margin, delivery, allocation)
  • Identify risks early and propose solutions and contingency plans so the team isn’t reacting late
  • Partner with internal teams and external vendors to hit margin, quality, and delivery targets, and support vendor strategy decisions alongside the Product Development Manager
  • Improve process and communication standards by modeling clear tracking, strong calendar acumen, and effective managing up
  • Mentor and guide a junior developer, help elevate team processes, and prepare to step into people management within 6–12 months as the team scales

Requirements

  • 5–7+ years in apparel product development with significant woven category responsibility
  • Experience managing domestic and overseas vendors through development, sampling, bulk production, and issue resolution
  • Technical foundation in woven fabrics and construction, with working knowledge of testing, tolerances, finishes, and manufacturability
  • Strong problem-solving mindset; stays effective through vendor resistance and shifting priorities
  • Highly effective at managing up—clearly articulates changes, implications, needed decisions, and timing; provides recommendations
  • Collaborative cross-functional operator; able to work through differing opinions and high expectations
  • Proficient in Google Suite and PLM systems; able to maintain accurate product data, track development milestones, and support reporting/analysis

Benefits

  • Medical, Dental, Vision benefits
  • 401(k) and employer match
  • Annual Huckberry shopping credits
  • Paid Sabbatical leave at 4 years
  • Summer Fridays
  • Weekly catered lunch
  • Monthly happy hours
  • Mental health resources
  • Paid Parental Leave
  • Paid Vacation & Paid Sick Leave
  • Volunteer Time Off
  • Generous employee discount
  • WFH flexibility
  • Annual offsites
