As a Senior Product Designer, you'll play a crucial role in shaping the future of Xero's products, contributing to the product vision, strategy, and end-to-end experiences within your product area. Working independently or collaboratively, you'll be a key contributor, leveraging your deep understanding of Xero's strategy, the market, and our customers to deliver experiences that achieve business objectives. You’ll partner effectively with cross-functional teams, communicate design decisions clearly, and contribute to a culture of design excellence within Xero. Your designs will have a tangible impact, contributing to Xero's success and empowering small businesses and advisors. What you’ll do
  • Design Excellence & Innovation: You'll expertly apply your advanced knowledge of design fundamentals and platform standards, delivering detailed design deliverables and high-quality experiences that contribute to business objectives and world-class end-to-end experiences.
  • Strategic Research & Insights: Collaborating with researchers and product managers, you’ll independently conduct research using a range of qualitative and quantitative methods to identify patterns and insights that inform your design decisions.
  • Communication – You'll effectively communicate design ideas with others, constructing evidence-based arguments to support your decisions and direction in documents, presentations, and in person, confidently presenting in design reviews and to cross-functional stakeholders while answering questions well and keeping them informed.
  • Project Leadership & Planning: You'll independently organise, break down, and sequence your work effectively to achieve goals, involving cross-functional team members to align and achieve objectives, and adjusting plans to fit workloads and deadlines while keeping stakeholders informed of progress.
  • Product Strategy & Systems: You'll have a strong understanding of Xero's strategy and contribute to the product vision and roadmap. You'll translate complex ideas into simple solutions, designing within the complexities of the product portfolio and considering the impact of your work on other products and experiences.
  • Mentorship & Influence: You'll demonstrate design leadership by effectively partnering with cross-functional stakeholders to drive alignment on design solutions and advocate for user-centered approaches, leveraging your strong communication skills and ability to articulate evidence-based design decisions to influence project direction and elevate the overall quality of the product experience.

  • A portfolio that demonstrates high-quality design outcomes, contributing to user experience and business value.
  • Experience working on large design projects.
  • Experience building and iterating on a product or experiences based on usage patterns, user feedback and an evolving strategic landscape.
  • Experience across the entire design process, with mastery in executing elegant interfaces.
  • Experience supporting product roadmap, go-to-market strategy, and design discussions.
