Senior People Partner (f/m/d)

AI overview

As the lead for People Operations in Germany, this role focuses on enhancing processes and policies to support a growing team of ~120 employees.

OUR PURPOSE AT PLANCRAFT

Building the backbone of European trades together – with AI-first software.
We’re not just building software – we’re on a mission to create space for contractors & tradespeople by equipping them with AI solutions that work the way they do: fast, practical, and AI-first. With Tier 1 Investors from Europe and the US, like Headline and Creandum as well as 20,000+ tradespeople as customer base, we’re scaling across Europe to turn scattered tradespeople into thriving communities. We believe in zero admin, not zero personality – and we build every feature with the people in mind who wear the boots, not the suits. We’re #stoked to shape the future, #together as a team, and #humble in our mission to support the builders of tomorrow.

YOUR MISSION AT PLANCRAFT

As a Senior People Partner, you are the lead owner for People Operations & Partnering in Germany and a key shaper and operator enabling plancraft’s growth through clear, compliant, and scalable people practices.

You own the full People Ops & Partnering agenda for Germany — our largest employee base with ~120 employees and further growing — and continue to strengthen People Operations & Partnering as a trusted advisory function and operational backbone. You translate operational signals, business needs, and employee feedback into clear, low-friction solutions that work reliably in day-to-day reality. From individual cases and manager advisory to refining processes and guidelines to operational HR execution - you own People Ops & Partnering end-to-end.

Your Responsibilities

  • Lead People Operations & Partnering for Germany, acting as the primary advisor and sparring partner to leaders and teams.
  • Advise managers and handle complex people cases (e.g. performance management, role changes, exits) with consistency, compliance, and sound judgment.
  • Own end-to-end People Operations across the employee lifecycle, including contracts, documentation, preparatory payroll, benefits administration, and maintenance of people systems.
  • Own offer and pre-boarding communication, ensuring a reliable and smooth transition from signed offer to day one.
  • Manage and resolve people requests within our dialogue system, ensuring timely, well-documented, and consistent handling.
  • Design, maintain, and continuously improve people policies and guidelines, aligning with the Global People Partner on what is offered globally vs. locally.
  • Translate operational signals into systemic improvements, identifying recurring issues, risks, and inefficiencies and turning them into clearer processes and ways of working.
  • Own and continuously improve our HRIS landscape (Personio), ensuring data integrity, stable workflows and automations, and reliable reporting foundations.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders (e.g. TA, People Experience, Finance, Legal, tax advisory) to ensure compliant, well-integrated people operations.
  • Co-design core employee lifecycle touchpoints with the People Experience team, ensuring operational processes and employee experience reinforce each other.

YOUR PROFILE

Must-Have Skills

  • 5+ years of experience in a People Ops / HRBP / People Partner role (or similar), with senior-level ownership and independent execution.
  • Deep functional expertise across People Operations, with end-to-end responsibility for processes, systems, and guidelines (Germany-based employees focus).
  • Proven ability to advise and enable managers in operational and case-based people matters (e.g., exits, PIPs, role changes) with clear judgment and calm communication.
  • Strong knowledge of compliance-relevant People Ops topics, with a high standard for documentation, accuracy, and audit readiness.
  • High attention to detail, reliability, and a structured way of working; comfortable owning many moving parts without losing clarity.
  • HRIS proficiency (Personio preferred) and good data affinity (reports, metrics, data quality).
  • Strong understanding of business priorities and how to translate them into People Ops decisions & frameworks.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbally and in writing in German & English (C1/C2 level).
  • Experience working in a startup/scale-up/growth-stage environment.
  • Hamburg-based and willing to be regularly present in the HQ office (ideally minimum 2 days/week)

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Experience in international People Ops / partnering setups (e.g., decentralized or hybrid/international workforces)
  • Hands-on experience with Personio and Leapsome
  • Experience building dashboards, automations, or workflow improvements that measurably reduce incidents and recurring requests

Who this role is for

  • balances day-to-day execution with continuously improving systems, processes, and standards
  • applies sound judgment in complex situations while holding clarity, consistency, and compliance
  • thinks in patterns and root causes, not just individual cases
  • measures success by reduced friction, strong manager enablement, and trust from employees and leaders
