Senior Payroll Specialist

$65,000 – $75,000 per year

THE ROLE

The Sr. Payroll Specialist is responsible for overseeing, participating in the processing of, recording of, and retaining of all payroll information. To accomplish this role, you will conduct routine payroll audits, possess a payroll as a service mindset being a point of contact for questions about payment policies and procedures, and be a team player that regularly collaborates with the accounting and human resources teams.

Essential Functions

  • Oversee and manage the entire payroll function, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.

  • Participate in and improve processes for our semi-monthly payrolls, off-cycle payrolls, and special payrolls.

  • Be the primary payroll resource for employees, and other stakeholders within Ncontracts.

  • Prepare payroll related journal entries and reconciliations.

  • Prepare and maintain payroll records and reports, ensuring data accuracy and compliance with internal and external audits.

  • Assist with month-end close tasks and complete special projects as assigned.

  • Assist with year-end reporting and preparation of annual tax forms.

  • Assist with year-end audit requests related to payroll.

Competencies & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, human resources, or another related field.

  • 7+ years of experience managing payroll or similar accounting role.

  • CPP certification required

  • Paylocity HRIS administration and configuration experience required

  • NetSuite experience required

  • 3-5 years of multi-state payroll processing experience with strong knowledge of FLSA laws, payroll taxes, and payroll-related compliance

  • Experience handling payroll audits, inspections, and compliance assessments.

  • Merger & Acquisitions experience, particularly related to payroll integration and consolidation

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks with capability to prioritize and are highly organized.
