Senior Patient Access & Revenue Cycle Consultant (Epic)

Contract Length: 6 Months
Employment Type: W2 Contract
Compensation: $100.00 per hour
Benefits: None
Location: Remote (with potential on-site support as needed)


Position Overview

We are seeking a Senior Patient Access & Revenue Cycle Consultant to provide strategic and operational leadership across front-end revenue cycle functions. This consultant will operate at a senior advisory level, supporting patient access optimization, scheduling efficiency, eligibility, authorization workflows, and Epic-based process improvement initiatives.

This role is ideal for a consultant with deep Epic experience who understands both operational and IT perspectives, and who can lead complex, multi-site initiatives with measurable financial and operational impact.


Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a senior advisor supporting Patient Access, Scheduling, Registration, Eligibility, and Authorization functions

  • Lead initiatives focused on reducing patient access–owned denials, including COB and authorization-related denials

  • Optimize scheduling efficiency, patient movement, and front-end registration workflows

  • Partner with operational and IT stakeholders to design and implement Epic-based improvements aligned to best practices

  • Support implementation and optimization of:

    • Real-Time Eligibility

    • Authorization workflows

    • Registration edits and decision trees

    • Workqueues and operational reporting

  • Act as project management lead for complex, multi-hospital initiatives, including change management and stakeholder coordination

  • Develop dashboards, reports, and performance metrics to support operational and financial goals

  • Provide subject matter expertise across Epic Patient Access applications

  • Mentor analysts and operational teams on optimization strategies and best practices

  • Support business development, assessments, and follow-on remediation initiatives as needed


Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in Patient Access and Front-End Revenue Cycle

  • Extensive experience working with Epic in both implementation and optimization environments

  • Proven expertise in:

    • Scheduling optimization

    • Front-end registration efficiency

    • Insurance eligibility and authorization workflows

    • Patient access–owned denials reduction

  • Ability to function as a strategic advisor, not limited to build-only or task-based work

  • Strong project management, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills

  • Experience working with large health systems, academic medical centers, and multi-hospital organizations


Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior consulting experience in healthcare revenue cycle environments

  • Experience serving as an operational liaison between IT and business teams

  • Epic certifications in Patient Access modules strongly preferred, including:

    • Cadence

    • Prelude

    • ADT / Grand Central

    • Welcome

    • MyChart

  • Background in Real-Time Eligibility vendor implementation or optimization
