The Role:

We are seeking a Senior Manager, Small Business Lending to help lead the charge in launching and scaling SoFi’s newest lending vertical. In this "0 to 1" role at a nationally chartered bank, you will be responsible for building the foundation of our Small Business (SMB) lending product, managing day-to-day operations, and ensuring the business’ long-term health.

This is a high-visibility position for a builder who loves to "run after problems". You will not only launch the product but also serve as the primary owner for maintaining critical external partner relationships and internal reporting. You will work cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, Design, Credit Risk, Compliance, and Legal to ensure we deliver a best-in-class experience that puts our business members' interests first.

What You’ll Do:

  • Collaborate with Product and Engineering to define the user journey, ensuring a seamless, digital-first application and funding process
  • Partner with cross-functional leaders from across credit risk, legal, compliance, underwriting and more to ensure we are helping our business members Get Their Money Right
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for external partners, ensuring service level agreements (SLAs) are met and issues are resolved quickly
  • Own the "source of truth" for the SMB portfolio. Design and maintain rigorous reporting dashboards to track KPIs such as origination volume, cost of acquisition (CAC), delinquency rates, and net promoter score (NPS)
  • Monitor portfolio performance daily; identify trends and "get to the truth" behind the data to help arrive at strategic decisions
  • Manage the daily operations of the lending funnel, identifying friction points and working with product & operations to implement iterative improvements

What You’ll Need:

  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in consumer or commercial lending, with specific exposure to Small Business (SMB) lending, including Small Business Card at a FinTech or Bank.
  • Relationship Management: Demonstrated ability to manage third-party vendors or complex partnerships, driving value and accountability.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong data fluency. You are comfortable using SQL, Tableau, or Excel/Google Sheets to manipulate large datasets and derive business insights.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Ability to influence without authority and work effectively with technical and non-technical teams (Engineering, Legal, Compliance).
  • Risk Analytical Knowledge: Partner with risk organization to understand portfolio performance and develop growth strategies to grow portfolio.
  • Product Development: Have an experience developing product or partnering with product organization managing to launch consumer and small business lending. 

Nice to Have:

  • MBA or advanced degree
  • Experience with commercial credit underwriting
  • Familiarity with SBA lending products (Small 7(a),SBA Express, 504) and SMB card products
  • Experience working in a high-growth, agile Fintech environment
  • Experience working at a highly regulated institution (i.e. a Bank)
Compensation and Benefits
The base pay range for this role is listed below. Final base pay offer will be determined based on individual factors such as the candidate’s experience, skills, and location.
