The Senior Manager, Sales Engineering will lead and scale a high-performing team of Sales Engineers supporting revenue across both direct sales and channel motions.
In addition to leading Sales Engineering for direct commercial sales segments, this role will play a critical leadership role in shaping and strengthening our Sales Engineering support for the Channel function. This includes ensuring technical alignment in partner-led opportunities, enabling channel sellers with strong technical resources, and building a scalable model that increases win rates in indirect and co-sell motions.
This is a strategic leadership role responsible for driving technical pre-sales excellence, operational rigor, and cross-functional alignment. You will partner closely with Sales, Channel Partnerships, Product, Marketing, and Enablement to ensure our technical strategy strengthens win rates, accelerates complex deal cycles, and enhances customer trust.
In this role, success means:
Increasing win rates in competitive and technically complex cybersecurity deals
Improving forecast accuracy through disciplined technical validation processes
Building strong alignment across Sales, Channel, and Sales Engineering
Developing a high-performing, technically credible, and engaged SE team
Establishing scalable, repeatable pre-sales processes that support enterprise growth
You will play a key role in evolving our sales engineering model to support expansion, deepen technical expertise in cybersecurity conversations, and strengthen our channel and partnership engagement strategy.
This is a remote opportunity within the US. We prefer candidates residing in the Austin, TX area.
What we're looking for:
8+ years of relevant experience in Sales Engineering, Solutions Engineering, or technical pre-sales within B2B SaaS.
Minimum 3+ years of direct people leadership experience managing Sales Engineering or Solutions Engineering teams.
Strong background in cybersecurity, identity, or enterprise security solutions preferred.
Experience selling high ARR deals to large customer accounts
Experience supporting Channel Sales and Partnership motions
Proven ability to lead teams supporting complex, multi-persona enterprise sales cycles.
Strong executive presence and ability to engage both technical and business stakeholders.
Experience operating in fast-paced, high-growth environments.
Ideally based in Austin, TX.
Willingness and ability to travel regularly (approximately 25%) to support customers, partners, team development and company events.

Manage, coach, and develop a team of high performing Sales Engineers in the Commercial segment in North America as well as Sales Engineers supporting our channel partners, MSP partners and alliance partners.
Establish clear performance expectations and accountability standards.
Hire and develop top technical talent aligned to 1Password’s enterprise growth ambitions.
Foster a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, and customer-centricity.
Drive Technical Strategy Across Direct and Channel Sales
Partner closely with Sales leadership to align technical resources to revenue priorities.
Support Channel Sales and strategic partnerships by enabling SEs to effectively engage partner-led deals.
Strengthen the technical value proposition in competitive and complex cybersecurity engagements.
Improve deal velocity and technical qualification discipline.
Elevate Cybersecurity and Technical Credibility
Ensure the team demonstrates strong domain expertise in cybersecurity, identity, device trust, and access management.
Coach SEs on navigating technical buyer personas including security, IT, and developer stakeholders.
Represent Sales Engineering in executive-level and strategic customer engagements when needed.
Adherence and enforcement of MEDDPICC sales methodology across the SE org.
Operational Excellence and Cross-Functional Alignment
Implement scalable processes for technical validation, proof-of-value, and deal support.
Analyze engagement patterns and pipeline data to optimize resource allocation.
Partner with RevOps to align technical activity with revenue predictability.
Collaborate with Product and Engineering to ensure field feedback informs roadmap and positioning.
USA-based roles only: The annual base salary for this role is between $153,000 USD and $222,000 USD, and is commission-eligible. This role is also immediate participation in 1Password's benefits program (health, dental, 401k and many others), utilization of our generous paid time off, an equity grant and, where applicable, participation in our incentive programs.

Our approach to work
We recognize the power of both in person collaboration and remote work. Some roles are designated as remote-first, with an expectation that individuals work from their homes majority of the time, while others are designated as in-office roles, with an expectation of being on-site on a regular basis. We recognize that certain roles benefit from regular, in-person connection to support collaboration, team cohesion, and customer engagement.
For all roles, occasional travel may be required. This includes things like: department-wide offsites, quarterly department meetings and periodic customer events. These events are typically held in varying locations across Canada, USA and/or EMEA. In leadership roles, you can expect to travel once per month on average.
