Steer India in partnership with our UK based financial and commercial advisory business, Amberside Advisors Ltd is looking for an enthusiastic and talented professional to support our business on the energy transition side of the industry. This position as Principal Consultant prefers experience of local Energy Transition markets, ability to develop new clients and targeting opportunities where investments are taking place. This may be focused on, but not restricted to, India, but extending across Asia and potentially MENA regions. The typical focus sectors include district / decentralized / distributed energy projects, including local generation (e.g. renewables, EfW, biofuels), microgrids, and district heating and cooling (in which we have a UK center of excellence) as well as EV charging / fleet electrification.
Note however, this role would have the freedom to target alternative opportunities across the energy infrastructure sectors where the business case and local policy is supportive, such as grid-scale renewables and storage, transmission / distribution network, CCUS, hydrogen (e.g. transport and industrial).
Whilst the candidate would benefit from a multidisciplinary understanding (financial, commercial, technical), they must be a very capable financial modeler, in order to support the existing projects and potentially Steer transport and city infrastructure when required.
As a Principal Consultant, the candidate should be prepared to take leading role in the delivery of concurrent advisory mandates, often as Project Manager, driving the value-add to clients, managing relationships and programs, and producing (and or reviewing for) high quality client outputs.
The role will be varied and expected to originate and develop opportunities for Amberside to provide its comprehensive advisory function to its existing clients, and the wider market to commercialize new offerings. This will include supporting Steer’s initiatives that may apply internationally, and whilst the focus will be in the delivery of advisory mandates, will also include working on relationship-led proposals, tenders, presentations, and reports.
You will work as part of a global team spanning across India , UK, Europe, North America, and LATAM providing solutions to both private and public-sector clients.

· Managing commercial aspects of an individual engagement to achieve desired levels of quality and profitability.
· Progressing to specialize and contribute to a practice area - developing and maintaining industry knowledge and demonstrating sound knowledge of economic, political and market trends.
· Passing on pertinent market/client knowledge to senior management and colleagues/ teams to aid the development of knowledge.
· Ability to understand clients’ needs and translate that into a scope. Deliver timely and quality outputs. Communicating risk and issue early to appropriate colleagues.
· Meeting deadlines throughout Performance Development Cycle for self, including seeking good quality feedback goal setting, providing input into engagement/ project reviews.

· Being able to step back, see the bigger picture and ability to translate datasets and models into a value-add analysis; and
· Contribution to proposals and participation in activities that enhance Steer’s offer and reputation.
1.8. The ideal candidate will have driving curiosity to solve client problems, respond to the challenge and exceptional attention to detail and an ability to translate this to/from an Excel model. Candidate must be:

· Support consultants in delivering advisory services across India and global offices.
· Lead workstreams within projects with limited supervision, ensuring consistent application of best practice techniques.
· Deliver high-quality advice as part of multi-disciplinary teams on projects such as district / decentralized / distributed energy projects, local generation like renewables, EfW, biofuels, microgrids as well as EV charging / fleet electrification.
· Manage multi-disciplinary projects, sub-consultants, and support staff assigned on a project basis.
· Take ownership of key projects through the full lifecycle—from initiation and feasibility studies to client deliverables.
· Exercise effective financial and budgetary control to manage project budgets.
· Prepare and present reports, proposals, briefing notes, and design documentation.
· Contribute to the production and delivery of proposals and marketing materials as needed.
· Demonstrate strong analytical skills, including spreadsheet modelling and other tools, to solve complex problems in consultancy or client environments.
· Communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences, both in writing and verbally.
· Influence colleagues and clients through a balance of supportive and challenging behaviors.
· Contribute to team performance by meeting financial and behavioral targets within allocated time and budget.
· Learn and apply new processes and applications, supported by guided training through the company’s graduate learning program.

Requirements
Desirable education background and skills required for this role:
· Degree in business administration or relevant field such as economics, law, finance, sciences, engineering. MBA/MSc/MA desirable.
· ACA/CIMA/CFA/IACCM/CMI/MEI or equivalent membership (optional).
· Professional experience spanning across 7 to 12 years.
· Expert user of Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook & PowerPoint.
· Strong data analytical skills e.g., data manipulation/analysis, basic statistics and econometrics using a range of software packages (MS Excel, Stata, SPSS, R) including an ability to analyse and draw insight from the data.
· Strong report writing and communication skills including:
– ability to back up opinions with well-constructed, evidenced arguments; and
– ability to confidently explain complex analysis to non-specialists via reporting and presentations.
· Good team player, able to work collaboratively with colleagues in other disciplines and with different cultures and across time zones.
