Senior Manager, People and Culture

We’re hiring a Senior Manager of People and Culture to join our small, high-performing People and Culture (P&C) team. Reporting to the VP, P&C, you will play a key part in aligning Maple’s people strategies with business objectives, ensuring that our P&C initiatives not only support but also drive business success at scale.
As a strategic HR partner, you will work closely with business unit leaders to embed people practices into our overall business strategy. This role is for a "builder-doer" who enjoys both the strategic partnership with leaders and the hands-on execution of the programs that define the employee experience. You will also manage and mentor members of the wider P&C team, fostering their professional growth while improving our operational foundations.
Your impactAs a Senior Manager, People and Culture, you will:
Strategic HR Partnership: Serve as the primary P&C contact for designated business units, advising on employee relations, workforce planning, change management, and performance management.
HR Operations: Oversee and elevate critical business as usual functions, including payroll oversight and benefits administration. You’ll ensure our internal processes are seamless, scalable, and compliant.
People Programs: Lead the design and execution of core programs including performance management cycles and compensation reviews. You’ll also spearhead learning and development initiatives to support continuous growth.
Compliance: Maintain and evolve our internal policies, ensuring they reflect our modern, human-first culture while staying ahead of employment standards and compliance requirements.
Learning & Development: Elevate Maple’s growth culture by designing and delivering scalable L&D initiatives that aligns with our learning strategy and supports skill building.
Data-Driven Leadership: Leverage data and insights to guide decision-making and present strategic recommendations to senior leadership that improve organizational health and retention.
7+ years of progressive experience in Human Resources or People Operations.
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. CHRP or equivalent certification is considered an asset.
Demonstrated experience acting as an HR Business Partner to senior leaders, with the ability to influence decisions and provide sound judgment in complex situations.
People management experience, with a track record of developing team members and setting clear priorities.
Strong knowledge of employee relations, performance management, organizational design, and operational HR processes.
Experience overseeing payroll and benefits processes, with a strong understanding of compliance and employment legislation in Canada.
Experience in a startup, scale-up, or SaaS environment is considered an asset.
Proven ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret HR data and translate insights into recommendations.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
