Senior Manager, Integration Engineering

Role

As a servant leader, you will lead and scale SmarterDx’s data acquisition function, ensuring reliable, secure, and scalable technical integrations for our customers while providing white glove service to our health systems. You bring a strong blend of people leadership, technical fluency, and operational rigor. You understand healthcare data flows, EHR integrations, and the realities of deploying enterprise integrations in complex hospital environments. You are comfortable engaging directly with CIOs, IT leaders, and frontline operators. You simplify complexity, build confidence, and position SmarterDx as a strategic partner rather than a vendor.

You will manage highly accomplished, fully remote Integration Managers and Integration Engineers and partner closely with Product, Engineering, Implementation, and Customer Success to deliver seamless integrations across multiple products. This role blends strategy and execution. You will define integration standards and processes while remaining hands-on to unblock teams, solve complex technical challenges, and continuously improve how we integrate with customer systems.

**This role is fully remote within the US**

What You’ll Do

  • Ensure excellence in integration delivery across all new and existing customer deployments, ensuring integrations are reliable, scalable, and delivered on time.
  • Recruit, mentor, and lead a rapidly growing, high-performing team of client-facing integration professionals.
  • You will foster a culture of accountability, technical excellence, and continuous learning; you’re not intimidated by managing tenured technical resources who bring niche integration expertise even beyond yours - you are excited to empower them.
  • Cultivate and maintain integration standards, documentation, and best practices across APIs, HL7, flat file, and database-based integrations.
  • Partner with Implementation, Product, and Engineering teams to align integration approaches with product strategy and client timelines.
  • Serve as an escalation point for complex or high-risk integrations, providing hands-on technical guidance.
  • Collaborate with customer technical teams, including EHR, data, and IT stakeholders, to develop secure and compliant data exchange.
  • Establish metrics and reporting for integration performance, throughput, and reliability, and communicate insights to company leadership.
  • Continuously improve integration tooling, automation, and processes to support scale as SmarterDx grows.
  • Drive technical design reviews, architectural decisions, and technology evaluations to ensure platform scalability and maintainability.
  • Establish development standards and best practices including code reviews, testing frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, and documentation standards.

What You Bring

  • 7-10+ years of experience in healthcare technology implementation, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role (responsible for high value portfolios, managing teams of 10+ resources, or -ideally- both).
  • Hands-on-keys expertise building HL7, FHIR, API integration, and database extracts for complex integrations with large health systems and enterprise customers, including extensive experience integrating with inpatient EHRs (including Epic, Cerner)
  • Excellent people leadership skills, with a track record of empowering high performing technical leaders, setting clear expectations, and driving results.
  • Strong delivery management skills, with the ability to manage multiple complex initiatives across customers and products.
  • Persuasive and clear in client-facing written and verbal communication, with the ability to confidently engage with health system resources from executives to analysts while mitigating risks.
  • You’re a pro at translating business and clinical requirements into technical integration solutions (and vice versa)
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to use data to forecast capacity, identify bottlenecks, and measure success.
  • Experience working in startup or high-growth environments, balancing long-term strategy with near-term execution.

Nice To Haves

  • Certifications or equivalent experience relevant to healthcare integration engines: Rhapsody Integration Engine Professional Certification, Epic Bridges
  • Experience with AI/ML solutions in healthcare
  • AWS certifications or equivalent cloud implementation experience (AWS Solutions Architect, AI/ML Specialty, etc)
  • Hospital revenue cycle/billing experience, especially familiarity with CDI operational workflows

Our Tech Stack

  • Rhapsody, Snowflake, Hex, Zapier, Figma, Salesforce, Google Suite, JIRA, Slack

Compensation
