Senior Manager, Digital Solutions and R&D

Our client, a leading financial institution in East Africa, is seeking a Senior Manager for Digital Solutions and R&D to lead the development of innovative digital banking products and services. This strategic role focuses on research and development to harness cutting-edge technology in order to enhance customer experiences and drive competitive advantage in the digital landscape.

The Senior Manager will oversee the research and development team, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to identify customer needs, evaluate emerging technologies, and lead the design and implementation of digital solutions. This role is crucial for fostering a culture of innovation and ensuring the organization remains at the forefront of digital banking trends.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the research and development of innovative digital banking solutions that meet customer needs and align with business objectives.
• Manage the end-to-end product development lifecycle, from ideation and design to launch and post-launch evaluation.
• Collaborate with technology teams to explore and implement emerging technologies that enhance digital solutions.
• Analyze market trends and conduct competition analysis to identify areas for innovation and improvement.
• Foster partnerships with fintech companies, academic institutions, and industry leaders to leverage new ideas and technologies.
• Develop and maintain a robust innovation pipeline that aligns with organizational goals.
• Lead and mentor a team of R&D professionals, encouraging creativity and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
• Communicate findings, insights, and recommendations to senior management and stakeholders effectively.
• Establish metrics to measure the success and impact of digital solutions on business performance.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field; a Master’s degree is preferred.
• At least 8 years of experience in product development, R&D, or digital transformation initiatives, preferably in the banking or financial services sector.
• Proven track record of successfully leading innovative digital projects from concept to implementation.
• Strong understanding of digital technologies, trends, and best practices in the financial services industry.
• Experience in managing R&D teams and fostering a culture of innovation.
• Excellent analytical and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to translate complex ideas into actionable plans.
• Strong project management and organizational skills, with a focus on delivering results.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external partners.
• Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to present ideas clearly and convincingly.
• Knowledge of regulatory considerations affecting digital banking solutions.
• A passion for innovation and a keen interest in leveraging technology for business transformation.
• Proficient in using modern project management tools and methodologies.
