Position Overview:

The Senior Manager, Accounting is responsible for the review of monthly financial reports and analysis, as well as quarterly schedules disclosed in public filings. The Senior Manager, Accounting is also responsible for managing the month-end close process, providing significant contributions (planning, coordination, implementation, etc.) toward change initiative projects, and managing/ developing the accounting team members.

This is a hybrid role, with Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays required in-office.

Key Responsibilities: 

General Ledger and Financial Reporting

  • Manage the overall month-end close process to meet the Company’s reporting deadline.  
  • Review accounting workpapers, account reconciliations, fluctuation analysis, and approve journal entries for balance sheet and income statement accounts, specifically relate to sale-leaseback accounting, current expected credit losses, and lessee accounting. 
  • Create and maintain accounting policies and processes. Ensure appropriate internal controls are adhered to. 
  • Review quarterly SEC reporting schedules and disclosures in related functional areas.
  • Perform accounting research and formally document the conclusions of management.

Other Responsibilities

  • Provide oversight and strategic guidance for work quality assurance, ensuring high standards and compliance.
  • Manage and coach members of the accounting team for career development and to accomplish the Company’s/Department’s objectives.
  • Lead accounting projects to maximize efficiency and speed up close.
  • Actively involved in system implementation and upgrades, including Yardi and other relevant software.

Qualifications:  

A qualified candidate is typically expected to have:

  • 6+ years of previous experience in industry and/or public accounting, with at least 3 years in a managerial role.
  • Real estate industry experience is highly preferred.  
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
  • Must have a clear and thorough understanding of U.S. GAAP and familiarity with Forms 10-K and 10-Q.
  • Strong financial acumen and knowledge of financial statements.
  • Ability to execute in ambiguous situations and take the lead without explicit instructions.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet public company reporting deadlines.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent PC skills including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

What you will get in return:

The base salary for this role is in the range of $116,055 - $162,265

You may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus and an annual discretionary stock award, (dependent on date of hire) to be discussed during the initial phone interview.
