We are currently seeking a Senior Legal Program Manager II - eDiscovery and Information Governance to join our Litigation, Employment, and Investigations Legal team. This role will report to the Director of Litigation for Commercial and Intellectual Property and will partner with members of the Legal, IT, Security/Privacy, and Commercial Operations Teams.

This role will be primarily responsible for the eDiscovery function at Cruise. As a Senior Legal Program Manager II, you will develop and implement the eDiscovery tools and processes needed to identify, preserve, collect, review, produce, and ultimately dispose of discoverable information in litigation and regulatory matters. This role will partner closely with Cruise’s attorneys and legal professionals, outside counsel, and third-party vendors ensuring that eDiscovery matters run smoothly and efficiently.

This role will also administer the Legal Team’s information governance needs. The Senior Legal Program Manager II will keep colleagues in the Litigation, Privacy, and Regulatory teams informed of progress by Cruise’s company-wide information governance functions and ensure legal requirements are met by those functions. This role will work with partners in IT, Commercial Operations, and elsewhere to support technical and process implementation of legal requirements.

This role is open to candidates in the San Francisco Bay Area and will accommodate a hybrid work schedule with both remote and in-office days.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a detailed understanding of the company’s data platforms for both eDiscovery and information governance purposes
  • Manage eDiscovery vendors, tools, and processes for all ongoing litigation, subpoenas, investigations, and regulatory inquiries
  • Develop record and data retention schedules and ensure teams across Cruise understand and comply with the schedules
  • Administer legal holds, ensuring preservation of relevant documents and data, in SaaS and custom data environments
  • Guide outside counsel and vendors with planning and managing of eDiscovery, including preparing budgets, project plans, workflows, and productions. Stay abreast of evolving eDiscovery technologies and best practices, and work with legal, IT, and Engineering teams to implement them
  • Inventory physical and electronic records across the company, in partnership with IT and security/privacy teams, for both information governance and eDiscovery purposes
  • Assist with the implementation of information governance practices, including templates, workflows, standards, and policies

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 5+ years of eDiscovery and records management experience in in-house legal department. Bonus points for experience with privacy law
  • Working knowledge of the litigation lifecycle, discovery rules, and the Electronic Discovery Reference Model (EDRM), and how to practically apply eDiscovery analytics and TAR
  • Significant experience with electronic document collection and eDiscovery tools such as Google Vault, Onna, and Relativity
  • Experience with the Information Governance Reference Model (IGRM) and information governance management
  • Proven track record of successful program management
  • Intense curiosity, comfort with ambiguity, tech savviness, humility, attention to detail, a sense of humor, and attention to detail

 

The salary range for this position is $108,800 - 160,000. Compensation will vary depending on location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. You may also be offered a bonus, restricted stock units, and benefits. These ranges are subject to change.
