  • HOURLY RANGE: Our client is looking to pay $30 – $50/hr
  • ESTIMATED DURATION: 40h/week - Long term

Key attributes 

● Very proficient in programming languages from backend to frontend with a focus on Python, MySQL, HTML, CSS and JavaScript frameworks (JQuery, React).

● Good understanding of website application deployment and production set-ups

● Willingness and aptitude for keeping technical knowledge up-to-date 

● Able and willing to act as lead engineer on complex, wide-ranging tasks; assimilating knowledge and expertise quickly as and when required 

● Highly accountable and responsible with an understanding of what skills, foresight, reporting and communication this entails 

● Ability to imagine and plan solutions that would work in the widest, most reusable, elegant, economical, and most resilient way, aligning with our engineering principles

● Able to plan, spec and advise on development complexity and timescales

What you’ll be working on

Overall purpose of the job 

Contributing to the Product team through leading the engineering within one of our core Cross-functional Product team pods. This role will see you taking responsibility for the engineering within this pod under the guidance of the Director of Product Engineering and through close collaboration with a team of Engineers, Product Managers and Designers. 

 

Additionally as a senior member within the Product Engineering team you will help ensure we constantly strive for engineering excellence across the business and within our products. 

Key areas of responsibility 

  • Lead the engineering of one of our product / product areas, ensuring: 
    • Best-in-class engineering support is provided by yourself and the team 
    • You build in-depth expertise and deep knowledge within your product, both technically and from a client’s perspective 
    • Technical, Commercial and Resourcing factors are assessed when considering what is worked on and how we work 
  • Provide mentorship, support & guidance to the engineers within the team, advocating best practice in terms of development & processes 
  • Implement features which follow the principles and best-practices laid out by the Product Engineering team whilst also contributing to, shaping and disseminating this vision 
  • Contribute to the research and development of new ideas, techniques, methods and technologies that continue to push our engineering innovation and products forward and align with our roadmap and vision 

Performance indicators 

  • Exceptional execution and delivery of roadmap items by yourself and the engineers within your pod - from both a technical and client-sided perspective 
  • Ensuring our engineering adds value for our clients and enforces our Product & Engineering team foundational goals 
  • Amassing an in-depth expertise and deep knowledge within your product area and sharing this knowledge across the team 
  • Contributing to the Engineering vision and advocating for best-practice engineering practices throughout the department 
  • Communicating with the technical and non-technical members of the team to ensure a positive, productive and efficient development cycle
