Senior IT Audit Consultant

TLDR

Utilize specialized knowledge of IT systems to identify vulnerabilities in the University’s network and lead audit projects to ensure security and compliance.

Do you know IT systems and security? Do you enjoy helping others? Here’s your chance to apply your skills at a world-class institution. We’re looking for a dynamic personality who can foster strong relationships with our clients. We need an individual who can roll-up their sleeves and figure things out. You’ll have a considerable amount of latitude and independence to do your job, and your work will be valuable to the entire University community. Here’s the best part: you’ll interact with everyone on campus – from Athletics to Research, from Finance to Operations, every day will bring a new and interesting challenge.

What would you do each day? A successful Sr. IT Audit Consultant will utilize their specialized knowledge of IT systems and security to implement an audit testing plan designed to identify potential vulnerabilities in the University’s network control environment. Simply, you’ll help the University try to avoid bad things from happening in the IT environment (and assist in determining what went wrong if bad things do happen). More specifically, here are the essential duties:

  • Identify and evaluate the University’s risk areas, and provide key input to the development of and lead the performance of the IT portion of the Annual Audit Plan;
  • Perform audit procedures and testing, including identifying and defining issues, developing criteria, reviewing and analyzing evidence, and documenting client processes and procedures;
  • Conduct interviews, review documents, develop and administer surveys, compose summary memos, and prepare working papers;
  • Identify, develop, and document audit issues and recommendations using independent judgment concerning areas being reviewed;
  • Communicate or assist in communicating the results of audit and consulting projects via written reports and oral presentations to management and the Board of Trustees;
  • Develop and maintain productive client and staff relationships through individual contacts and group meetings;
  • Pursue professional development opportunities, including external and internal training and professional association memberships, and share information gained with co-workers;
  • Represent AAS on organizational project teams and with external organizations;
  • Provide or assist in providing IT-related training, coaching and guidance to AAS staff in conducting audits and other audit-related issues;
  • Maintain knowledge of technical updates and changes in IT and auditing standards, data processing procedures, University policies, and government regulations to ensure that audits are conducted in accordance with applicable department/professional standards;
  • Perform related work as assigned by audit management;
  • Assist the external auditors with IT general controls audit for the year-end financial statement audit.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in management information systems, computer science, or a related field is required.
  • At least three years of full-time experience in IT audit or data security.  A professional certification (CISA, CPA, or CIA) may each substitute for one year of required experience (for a maximum substitution of two years).
  • Experience as an IT auditor, particularly in higher education, preferred.
  • Ability to obtain security clearance as necessary.
  • Ability to work without visa sponsorship, now or in the future, for employment at the University of Notre Dame.
  • After successful completion of a training period, a hybrid arrangement of up to 2 days/week remote and 3 days/week on campus may be available.
  • Please provide a cover letter for full consideration of your application.
  • Deadline to apply (subject to change): Sunday, March 8th, 2026.
