Kpler are looking for an experienced Iron Ore Market Analyst to focus on driving an increase in the depth and quality of our Iron Ore and Steel market research, and support the expansion of ferrous market coverage across the broader BU. You will lead the charge in this expansion, developing the roadmap for improving our breadth of coverage of metals markets. Your mission is to:
  • Take ownership of Kpler iron ore and steel market research, including editing the Iron Ore Monthly report and communicating key developments in the iron ore market for Kpler’s Insight client base.
  • Build upon our iron ore/steel forecasting capabilities to improve the quality and breadth of coverage.
  • Grow our research to cover DRI, HBI, and iron ore pellet markets.
  • Expand our iron ore price forecasts beyond benchmark products to include grading differentials, lump premium, pellets.
  • Maintain strong relationships with key market players and both the mainstream and specialist media.
  • Lead Dry Bulk Insight’s iron ore market coverage in client engagement, events, etc.
  • You could be a match if you are or have:
  • At least 5 years’ experience analysing iron ore and steel markets.
  • A deep understanding of iron ore and steel trade flows, pricing, key commercial players and fundamental supply and demand drivers for dry commodity markets.
  • Some experience forecasting commodity flows and prices.
  • A track record of producing insightful written analysis 
  • Experience of presenting research findings to varied audiences
  • Skilled at carrying out complex analysis across multiple datasets using appropriate tools
  • Fluent in English and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work and communicate in an international cross-cultural environment.
  • High competency in using Excel.
  • Willingness to take the initiative, own their research, and be accountable
  • Intellectual humility and an openness to feedback

  • Experience of using SQL, Python, R or Tableau is a plus.
  • An academic background or professional qualifications in economics, chemistry, or metallurgy
