As a Senior Industrial Designer, you design advanced, comprehensive product solutions that are aligned with Arc’teryx design philosophies. You continuously push your concepts beyond where the industry is today. You bring your curiosity and passion for product to imagine and build innovative, relevant, and resolved designs. You are an innovative problem solver with a focus on collaborative teamwork.
This role is based out of our North Vancouver office and is open to hybrid remote work. Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada.

The Advanced Concepts team drives breakthrough innovation in snow, trail and climb for the mountain athlete everywhere. Fueled by curiosity, we take a holistic approach to identifying future needs and tangible solutions across advanced materials, products, technologies and experiences. Our in-house end-to-end capabilities in research, engineering, design, development, digital and validation allow us to innovate head-to-toe solutions that bring the coast mountain experience to the world. If you were in the Senior Industrial Designer – Advanced Concepts role now, here are some of the core activities you would be doing:
Communicating compelling concepts visually, both physically as well as through 2D/3D digital assets
Leading complex and challenging projects with cross functional teams
Supporting Advanced Concepts projects through developing unique and resolved approaches to product solutions, patterning and prototyping
Staying at the forefront of new technologies and manufacturing techniques, implementing them into future products
Creating innovative technology platforms that underpin product categories
Collaborating closely with other Designers to bring new and better toolbox solutions, such as new technologies, construction techniques, features, etc.
Building partial or complete concept prototypes to allow for solutions to be reviewed, tested and validated
Collecting insights through observing, product testing, research and working closely with athletes/end users
Testing various materials to assess suitability for construction techniques and end uses, providing recommendations on final selection, diligently documenting information and results throughout the process
Designing for a variety of product categories, from apparel to equipment, with a focus on hardgoods
Helping to develop proprietary solutions with unique intellectual properties
Supporting in compilation of project scope, activities, and expenditures of projects deemed eligible for submission to funding programs (SR&ED, IRAP, NRC, MITACS, and so forth)
Contributing to the future of Arc’teryx product circularity initiatives and goals

Are you our next Senior Industrial Designer – Advanced Concepts?
You have a Degree in Industrial Design or equivalent experience, and a minimum of 8+ years’ hands-on experience designing products
You are a conceptual thinker able to visually communicate ideas efficiently and effectively
You have extensive experience with a variety of materials and manufacturing processes such as: injection molding, composites, 3D printing and metal fabrication
You are an excellent team player with the ability to take direction, work with minimal supervision and mentor other team members
You have excellent planning, organizational, problem solving and decision-making skills
You are technically proficient, comfortable using the Adobe Suite and 3D modelling software (Solidworks, Rhino, or similar)
You are proactive in identifying the root cause of issues, seeking the best (sometimes not the easiest) solutions with an unwavering commitment to do what is right
You remain highly flexible and adaptable when faced with ambiguity
You effectively balance autonomy and collaboration
You inspire breakthrough thinking and continuous improvement
