Senior High-Speed Signal Integrity Engineer

AI overview

Join a pioneering team conducting electromagnetic analysis for advanced electro-optic devices while collaborating across disciplines to drive innovation in quantum computing.

PsiQuantum’s mission is to build the first useful quantum computers—machines capable of delivering the breakthroughs the field has long promised. Since our founding in 2016, our singular focus has been to build and deploy million-qubit, fault-tolerant quantum systems.

Quantum computers harness the laws of quantum mechanics to solve problems that even the most advanced supercomputers or AI systems will never reach. Their impact will span energy, pharmaceuticals, finance, agriculture, transportation, materials, and other foundational industries.

Our architecture and approach is based on silicon photonics. By leveraging the advanced semiconductor manufacturing industry—including partners like GlobalFoundries—we use the same high-volume processes that already produce billions of chips for telecom and consumer electronics. Photonics offers natural advantages for scale: photons don’t feel heat, are immune to electromagnetic interference, and integrate with existing cryogenic cooling and standard fiber-optic infrastructure.

In 2024, PsiQuantum announced government-funded projects to support the build-out of our first utility-scale quantum computers in Brisbane, Australia, and Chicago, Illinois. These initiatives reflect a growing recognition that quantum computing will be strategically and economically defining—and that now is the time to scale.

PsiQuantum also develops the algorithms and software needed to make these systems commercially valuable. Our application, software, and industry teams work directly with leading Fortune 500 companies—including Lockheed Martin, Mercedes-Benz, Boehringer Ingelheim, and Mitsubishi Chemical—to prepare quantum solutions for real-world impact.

Quantum computing is not an extension of classical computing. It represents a fundamental shift—and a path to mastering challenges that cannot be solved any other way. The potential is enormous, and we have a clear path to make it real.

Come join us.

Job Summary:

PsiQuantum seeks to hire an on-site Senior High-Speed Signal Integrity Engineer to join our team. The Senior High-Speed Signal Integrity Engineer will primarily focus on conducting electromagnetic analysis of novel electro-optic devices, electrical interconnects, and electro-optic packages. The role also involves some hands-on lab work, including collecting and analyzing data from devices, circuits and subsystems.

Responsibilities:

Electromagnetic simulation
Develop electromagnetic simulation models to support the design and synthesis of novel electro-optic devices and interconnect schemes. Analyze and present simulation results to guide future designs. A significant part of the role involves plotting and presenting data across various scenarios.
Carefully document simulation results, with attention to assumptions, limitations, and the applicable range of validity.
Create and maintain simulation project templates that can be shared with other high-speed engineers on the team.
Signal integrity and power integrity simulations
Analyze signal integrity of active devices co-packaged with high speed electronic drivers. A basic understanding of electrical amplifier is helpful.
Data analysis and presentation
Collaborate with engineers and scientists to deliver E&M simulation model results that can be updated rapidly through scripting allowing for parameter variation studies to aid in design optimization and innovation.
Communication
Work closely with cross-disciplinary teams, including experts in device physics, photonics and electronic IC design. Effective collaboration is essential for integrating inputs across SI, PI and electromagnetic simulation efforts.

Experience/Qualifications:

Education & Experience

Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
5-10 years of industrial experience in microwave, RF, and signal integrity analysis; power integrity experience is a plus.
Strong knowledge of microwave circuit theory, RF measurement techniques, S-parameters, and signal integrity concepts.
Proficient in using electromagnetic and circuit simulation tools, preferably HFSS and Keysight ADS. Experience with COMSOL, Microwave Office, or Cadence is also acceptable, with the intent to adopt preferred tools. SIwave familiarity is a plus.
Hands-on experience with microwave lab equipment such as VNAs, high-speed real-time and sampling oscilloscopes, and high-speed probes. Ability to collect and correlate measurement data with simulation results. Experience with electrical probing is a plus.
Skilled in data analysis and scripting using tools like Python or MATLAB.

Soft Skills

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Solid mathematical background for analyzing measured data and developing analytical or quasi-analytical circuit models.

Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with multiple concurrent tasks.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical documentation and presentations.

Proactive, team-oriented mindset with a strong desire to learn and grow.

Demonstrated ability to independently lead technical projects with minimal supervision.

Preferred Qualifications

Ability to develop scripts that accelerate simulation model setup, such as Python for automating ADS or HFSS workflows.
Experience with statistical data analysis.
Some familiarity with electro-optic devices.
Eagerness to learn advanced high-speed analysis techniques.
Willingness to spend 10–20% of time in the lab collecting and analyzing data for modeling purposes.
