At Skyways we are building a new form of air transportation. Some people call it the flying car. We believe fully autonomous unmanned aerial vehicles represent a unique opportunity to move things and ultimately people in new, more efficient ways. Our strategy to get there is completely different from the rest of the industry.
Skyways is a startup based in Austin, TX. We are backed by some of the most respected investors in Silicon Valley including YCombinator. Although we consider ourselves early-stage, we already have vehicles in production and in the hands of paying customers (see here and here). Come join us and work on a transportation revolution to advance our civilization!
The Opportunity
We are looking for a Senior GNC Engineer who thrives in a fast moving environment where ideas quickly become real flights. This is a role for someone who wants to write flight software, analyze logs, tune controllers, support flight testing and see their work fly every week. You will work across controls estimation simulation and field testing and you will play a key part in improving reliability and performance for real customers in real conditions.
What You'll Do:
Analyze improve and implement flight control and state estimation algorithms
Build and refine simulation tools that support flight software development
Investigate system behavior using flight logs and develop solutions based on real evidence
Support flight operations with configuration work pre flight preparation and post flight analysis
Create and execute flight test plans and evaluate results with the team
Write high quality safety focused code that improves aircraft performance and reliability
Review code and influence engineering discipline and software quality across the team
Work directly with the aircraft to validate changes and understand real world behavior
