Position Description:
This position must resolve problems of intense scope and complexity. Works under supervision and in accordance with industry-wide standards, and are responsible for their own work. This position requires periods of intense concentration, as well as average strength and stamina. This position is within a normal office environment with little exposure to noise, dust, fumes, etc., and requires infrequent travel.
Typical responsibilities include:
Assist a multidiscipline team to provide GIS support for a variety of existing and future internal and external projects
Prepare sophisticated maps and graphics
Perform intermediate to advanced level spatial analyses
Create and implement standards for quality of geographic data
Design, develop, and implement systems and databases for storing and accessing geospatial data
Standardize and define metadata for geographic data, and track need for data format conversion
Research and test new data sources, software, and organizational tools
Maintain databases
Coordinate with and provide GIS support to field staff
Assist with field projects as assigned
Assist Project Managers
Maintain excellent client relations
Maintain a safe working environment
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Geographic Information Science, Urban Planning, Geography, or a related field
Skills/Experience:
8+ years of experience
Proficient with ArcGIS suite of applications
Proficient with MS Access, SQL, and other relational database management systems
Programming capability in Python under ArcGIS
Excellent organizational and communication skills
