We are seeking a Senior Gift Officer to join our development team. As a Senior Gift Officer, qualifies, cultivates, solicits, and stewards donors and donor prospects capable of making commitments in the assigned region for all ministries and programs of Buckner International. What You’ll Do
As a member of our team, you will have an impact on our clients through the accomplishment of the following responsibilities:
- Design and implement strategies to build out a robust pipeline of donors to support Buckner Retirement Services benevolent care and chaplaincy programs, supporting the $2MM+ Buckner Retirement Center Philanthropic need.
- Cultivate current donors and work within the BRS communities to develop new relationships who have the potential to support at the Major Gift level.
- Work with Buckner Stewardship and Communications teams to refine materials focused on communicating the need for benevolent care and chaplaincy programs.
- Work alongside BRS community leadership to introduce Buckner benevolent care and chaplaincy programs to new and existing residents.
- Work with grants team to develop tracking and reporting metrics for number of seniors receiving care across the organization and in each community.
- Refine current communication strategies and case for support documents for each individual levels of giving across the organization – Mass, Mid-Rising, Major, Corporate and Foundation giving; to include specific donor impact and statistics.
- Work with the Church Engagement team at Buckner to develop appropriate strategies to engage church support for Buckner Retirement Services, especially around chaplaincy programs.
- With stewardship, develop a regular cadence of expressing gratitude, impact and real-world outcomes, as well as the ongoing need for support.
- Work with BRS community leaders and Dev. Operations to include residents in the Impact Advancement CRM system and work with Mass Comm to develop communication strategies with those residents.
- Collaborate to host Planned Giving and other relevant activities at the retirement communities.
- When possible, involve resident family members in the conversation about Buckner Retirement Services senior care programs.
- Experience with giving societies of donors who support Senior Care and Assistance desired.
- Develop and manage a strategic donor pipeline specific to Buckner Retirement Services.
- Cultivate and steward both current and prospective donors, with an intentional focus on entry level giving and long term relationship development.
- Develop and execute a phased engagement strategy for Mass, Major, and Corporate and Foundation donors.
- Ensure consistent communication of program impact and funding needs, including timely and appropriate donor acknowledgment.
- Collaborate with BRS community leadership to engage resident families through targeted events and experiences, including a family weekend.
What You’ll Bring to the Team
To be successful in this role and a great addition to our team we need you to come with the following:
- Requires ability to successfully identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit and steward major donors and major donor prospects in the assigned area for all ministries and programs of Buckner.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field required.
- Minimum 5-8 years prior related proven experience required in building and sustaining relationships with constituents that are engaged with an organization.
- Requires prior related experience working with necessary parties to develop and refine content for case necessary to support solicitations.
- Requires proven successful experience in identifying, cultivating and sustaining relationships that lead to financial or other contributions to an organization.
- Current certification as a Certified Fund Raising Executive preferred.
- Requires proficient working knowledge and experience in proposal writing and knowledge of foundation grant writing processes.
- Proficient working knowledge of donor development, fundraising and public relations laws and regulations governing agency and employees required.
- Requires proficient ability to speak, read and write English.
- Requires ability to provide strategic and logistical planning and facilitate meetings. Requires ability to organize complex tasks and plans and to be detail oriented.
- Requires ability to speak clearly and make self understood effectively in face to face interactions; articulate with accuracy to speak on the phone; ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing and speak in front of groups.
- Requires recognized ability to meet multiple deadlines by maintaining a high level of organization.
- Requires demonstrated strong analytical skills, including an ability to synthesize large amounts of information and to focus quickly on the essence of an issue; strong commitment to producing measurable results. Strong business acumen required.
