The opportunity.

Trumid is at the forefront of transforming the fixed-income trading landscape, and we are building a world-class team to drive our Generative AI strategy. We are seeking an innovative and experienced Generative AI Engineer to be a pivotal part of this initiative. This role is central to our mission of building a significant competitive advantage by leveraging our unique proprietary data sets to create intelligent, next-generation trading solutions.

You will be responsible for the end-to-end design, development, and deployment of generative AI applications that span the entire organization. This includes building foundational internal tools to enhance productivity and pilot new technologies, as well as creating the sophisticated, client-facing applications that will define our commercial growth and differentiate the Trumid platform. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of trading analytics and user experience in a dynamic, data-rich environment, working on greenfield projects with significant strategic impact.

Key Responsibilities:

• Strategic AI Application Development:
  • Lead the hands-on development of scalable, end-to-end Generative AI solutions, from concept and data preparation to production deployment.
  • Play a key role in preparing data for AI applications, including document processing, curation, and ranking to build robust, proprietary knowledge bases.
  • Design and build AI systems for both internal and external use cases, including efficiency tools that enhance productivity and groundbreaking client-facing features that deliver intelligent insights, recommendations, and advanced search capabilities.
• AI Infrastructure and Frameworks:
  • Architect and develop reusable AI tooling and infrastructure, including core components for model serving, data processing, and embedding management.
  • Champion best practices in prompt engineering, model evaluation, and the use of modern AI frameworks to ensure our solutions are robust, efficient, and scalable.
• Research and Continuous Improvement:
  • Stay at the forefront of AI research, actively evaluating new models, techniques, and tools to drive continuous innovation.
  • Implement rigorous testing and validation methodologies to ensure AI systems are transparent, accurate, and effective.
• Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement:
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams and product development to seamlessly integrate AI features.
  • Clearly communicate AI capabilities, insights, and strategic benefits to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Qualifications:

• Previous experience at a product-focused Generative AI startup
• Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Machine Learning, or a related technical field.
• Minimum 2 years of practical experience designing and building applications using Generative AI and Large Language Models (LLMs) and a minimum of 5 years overall experience.
• Strong, practical skills in prompt engineering to optimize model performance, accuracy, and cost-effectiveness.
• Deep expertise in Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) patterns and hands-on experience with vector databases.
• Proficiency with various LLM APIs and a solid understanding of their capabilities and limitations.
• Expertise with modern AI development frameworks and libraries (e.g., LangChain, LlamaIndex, etc).
• Strong proficiency in Python and a solid foundation in software engineering principles.
• A deep understanding of the full AI/ML project lifecycle, from data preparation and model development to deployment, observability, and iteration.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., Google Cloud, AWS, Azure) and data warehousing solutions.
• Experience with knowledge graphs, Graph RAG techniques, and multimodal AI capabilities.
• Familiarity with AI-driven UX/UI design principles and integration into client-facing solutions.

In compliance with New York City Pay Transparency Law, the base salary range for this role in New York City is between $175,000 - $250,000. This range does not include discretionary bonus or other forms of compensation or benefits offered in connection with this job. Several factors are considered when determining a candidate’s compensation. Please note that the salary range listed for this position is based on the level of experience outlined in the job description. If a candidate's experience differs from the requirements, the salary may be adjusted accordingly.
