Senior Game Backend Engineer (Remote)

As a Senior Game Backend Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in designing and building scalable backend systems that power engaging multiplayer experiences. You will be responsible for implementing robust APIs, managing high-performance gameplay servers, and optimizing social and in-game systems to support millions of concurrent users. Working closely with game designers and cross-functional teams, you will help shape the core architecture of immersive VR games, ensuring seamless gameplay, secure interactions, and efficient data handling. This role provides the opportunity to influence both technical strategy and player experience while working in a fully remote, collaborative, and innovation-driven environment. You will stay at the forefront of gaming technologies, applying best practices and new tools to continuously enhance backend performance and scalability.

Accountabilities:

·        Architect, develop, and maintain scalable, secure backend systems and APIs for multiplayer games.

·        Collaborate with game designers to implement systems that deliver immersive and seamless player experiences.

·        Develop and optimize systems for social interaction, in-game currency, friends lists, and communication tools.

·        Design and implement gameplay mechanics to create engaging, interactive experiences.

·        Monitor, troubleshoot, and improve backend performance to handle high levels of concurrent traffic.

·        Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in backend development and VR gaming.

Requirements

·        Proven experience as a backend engineer with a strong focus on game development and scalable systems.

·        Hands-on expertise with server architecture, APIs, and high-concurrency applications.

·        Experience with social graph design, multiplayer networking, and in-game system management.

·        Proficiency in programming languages and frameworks commonly used in backend and game development.

·        Strong problem-solving, debugging, and optimization skills.

·        Excellent collaboration and communication skills to work effectively with remote, distributed teams.
