Senior Fullstack Engineer

Becoming part of the Brazil Engineering team (BR Market) means helping solve our small merchant’s problems on your daily routine and helping shape the future of our products in the Brazilian market.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be responsible for improving the functionality and user experience of SumUp's Receivables platform by building scalable, high-performance systems that empower merchants to track and access their payments. You’ll drive product integrations, improve service reliability, and help launch impactful financial products—all while shaping a collaborative, product-focused engineering culture.

What You’ll Do

• Drive the modernization of the Receivables platform by reducing technical debt and leading the migration from a monolith to microservices.
• Improve system observability and incident response by introducing better monitoring and alerting practices.
• Refactor legacy code to meet regulatory compliance and simplify fragmented workflows.
• Mentor and support the engineering team, fostering technical growth, ownership, and adoption of best practices.
• Collaborate closely with engineering leadership to increase team morale and strengthen product ownership.

You’ll be great for this role if you have:

• Strong experience in unit and integration testing
• Deep expertise in software engineering best practices
• Solid backend development capabilities with a willingness to learn Go (programming language)
• Knowledge of React and Next.js
• Strong understanding of relational databases and AWS cloud services.
• Proven ability to lead and deliver cross-squad technical initiatives of small to medium scale.
• Advanced proficiency in English (written and spoken), with the ability to clearly present and discuss technical and product-related topics.

Any of the following would be considered a plus:

• Expertise in PostgreSQL query optimization and performance tuning.
• Familiarity with NoSQL databases (e.g., DocumentDB), including optimization strategies.
• Background in payments and receivables integration, with knowledge of industry standards and best practices.
• Hands-on experience with Golang in production systems.
• Proficiency with modern front-end tools and libraries
