Senior Full Stack Ruby on Rails Engineer (Frontend)

We're looking for a mid-to-senior Full-Stack Ruby on Rails Developer with a strong frontend focus to lead the charge on our Rails-based applications in the adult entertainment space. Our flagship product, Mr. Skin, has been online for over 25 years and continues to attract millions of visitors each month, and now we're making it faster, sleeker, and easier to maintain!

While new applications and services may use Node.js, Rails remains at the core of our platform. You should be comfortable working in Rails views (ERB, Haml) and parts of the legacy frontend (Backbone, jQuery, Bootstrap 3), while also introducing modern design systems and reusable components to improve performance and maintainability.

You'll be the go-to person for all things frontend in a product team of 4 developers, QA, and DevOps, working closely with the lead engineer and backend developers across Rails and Node.js services. If you're a proactive self-starter, you'll fit right in! This role is perfect for someone who values autonomy and enjoys shaping how our frontend evolves. 

What You'll Do

• Maintain and modernize frontends built with Rails views, Backbone, jQuery, and Bootstrap 3.
• Refactor and migrate legacy code to TypeScript, React, Web Components, and Bootstrap 5.
• Build new frontends for Node.js applications, ensuring consistency with our design systems and modern stack.
• Create and maintain design systems that keep our components, typography, and styling looking sharp and consistent.
• Improve Core Web Vitals, implement SEO changes, and run A/B tests to boost conversions.
• Write unit tests with Jest and maintain high-quality code standards.
• Collaborate closely with the team to deliver features that impact millions of visitors.

What We're Looking For

• Strong frontend development skills with solid JavaScript and TypeScript experience.
• Comfort working with Ruby on Rails and Node.js backend tasks.
• Comfortable refactoring and improving legacy code. You're not afraid to dive in and clean things up.
• Experience working with a design system approach.
• UX mindset with an eye for design. You know how to make things look beautiful and work great.
• Curious about analytics and data-driven design decisions.
• Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes is a plus.
