Activate is a tech company known for creating Canada’s first full-scale interactive gaming facility.  We are experiencing significant expansion and are looking to expand our team with the addition of a  Senior Financial Reporting Analyst.  The Senior Financial Reporting Analyst works with Finance, Sales, and Activate’s partners to ensure accurate recording, reconciliation, and reporting of financial transactions. This role manages core accounting and treasury activities, supports audit and compliance requirements, and identifies opportunities to improve accounting processes.  This is a full-time, permanent position. 


The Duties and Responsibilities:


Month-End Closing Activities & Financial Reporting 


  • Prepare and review month-end journal entries and reconciliations. 
  • Assist with the month-end close process to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting. 
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts and investigate variances or discrepancies. 
  • Support the preparation of month-end financial statements and internal reports. 


Daily Transaction & Treasury Management 


  • Ensure timely and accurate posting of daily financial transactions in the accounting system. 
  • Support treasury activities such as monitoring cash balances, processing treasury transactions, and maintaining required documentation. 
  • Ensure compliance with treasury policies and internal controls.  
  • Maintain organized records to support audit and compliance requirements. 
  • Review accounts payable transactions for accuracy and compliance. 
  • Ensure proper documentation and controls are maintained to support accurate financial reporting. 


Tax & Compliance 


  • Support sales tax filings and ensure timely submissions 
  • Assist with compliance activities related to accounting standards, internal controls, and company policies. 
  • Support external audits and financial reviews by preparing schedules, reconciliations, and required documentation. 
  • Respond to auditor inquiries and follow up on audit findings as required.


Process Improvement & Systems 


  • Participate in process improvement initiatives to streamline accounting and transaction processes. 
  • Assist with documentation and standardization of accounting procedures.  


The Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. 
  • Professional accounting designation (CPA, or equivalent) is required. 
  • At least 5 years of transferable work experience; minimum of 3 +years of related experience in accounting or finance roles; public accounting experience is an asset. 
  • Advanced Excel skills (including Power Query); ERP experience is an asset. 
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting standards. 
  • Strong experience with month-end close and financial reporting. 
  • High attention to detail with strong organizational and time-management skills 
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills. 
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
