Senior Financial Accountant

The role ensures the integrity of taxation and accounting information by recording, verifying and consolidating transactions and in delivering timely, accurate and compliant statutory compliance including tax lodgements, financial reporting and audits globally across all jurisdictions, in conjunction with and under the guidance of the Finance Manager and SO Controller. The role assists with compliance, cash flow forecasting and supporting business activities in order to drive efficiencies and transparency across the business.

CORE RESPONSIBILITES

Statutory Accounting and Global Compliance
  • Contribute to the day-to-day global accounting and improvement of the accounting function
  • Ensure timely, accurate and compliant statutory financial reporting for the client and related entities globally, including group consolidations
  • Ensure accounting records are prepared and maintained in accordance with the client's accounting policies, chart of accounts, and related accounting principles and practices and ensure that subordinate ledgers reconcile with the general ledger
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to update schedules, procedures, and systems to enable the timely and informative accumulation, adjustment, and reporting of financial data from a Group accounting perspective. Including but not limited to the set up and maintenance of weekly/monthly/annual accounting routines
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of balance sheet reconciliations with a minimum clearance time for all reconciling items, including reviewing and maintaining Blackline reconciliations for group
  • Produce clear comprehensive regular management reports with accompanying narrative through detailed finance review
  • Assist to create a function of best practise with ongoing continuous improvement through well documented and enhanced procedures and improvements in the controls and processes through greater automation and system development to drive efficiencies and value across the business.
  • Assist to identify and assess the impact of accounting standard changes on the group. In doing so, prepare sound professional advice on accounting treatment and propose and participate in the most effective implementation of any changes as a result
  • Support the SO Controller to manage annual audits globally with global audit partners, recommend revisions to auditing policies, procedures and programs where necessary
  • Prepare month end prepayments, accruals and journals.
Tax
  • Maintain monthly/quarterly Tax routines to ensure tax compliance obligations are met
  • Support global Tax compliance for all direct and indirect taxes, including Income Tax returns, Transfer Pricing, BAS returns, GST, PST, WHT, FBT and all other relevant taxes
  • Support the preparation of the annual tax provisions (including income tax/deferred tax), all tax calculations and payments globally
  • Perform simple Transfer pricing calculation and true up on routine bases
  • Contribute to the ongoing continuous improvement of the tax function through enhanced procedures and well documented processes
Fixed Assets
  • Maintain monthly/quarterly/annual routines for group entities
  • Manages the FA ledgers including the set-up of new assets, period end processes and reconciliations, including book and tax depreciation
  • Contribute to the ongoing continuous improvement of the function through enhanced procedures and well documented processes
Related Party Transactions
  • Manage related party transactions including loan, accounts payable and accounts receivable.
  • Monthly reconciliation of all related party transactions.
Payroll
  • Facilitate general ledger processing for all payrolls for group entities, weekly, fortnightly and monthly
  • Processing of payroll related journals
  • Reconciliation of payroll related balance sheet accounts and payroll expense analysis
Other
  • As an experienced member of the financial accounting team provide guidance and mentoring to team members to enhance their knowledge and effectiveness.
  • Support the SO Controller to monitor and work continuously on process improvements to increase efficiencies within the team.
  • Complete cash flow reporting and forecasting
  • Support new market expansion where required, including but not limited to selection of outsourced providers, corporate registrations and implementation of financial structure and systems
  • Support implementation and integration of new accounting systems
  • Complete Government Statistical Compliance and other survey forms
  • Other ad-hoc duties and projects as directed
CAPABILITIES
  • Over 5 years’ post qualification experience with a combination of accounting/auditing roles in a global corporate group or a large accounting/audit firm
  • Demonstrated expertise in accounting for a multinational organisation within the BPO environment
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of International Accounting Standards, consolidations, global accounting, foreign currency, and cross border transactions
  • Knowledge and understanding of Australian taxation (preferable, but not essential) and exposure to global tax and cross border transactions
  • Sound knowledge of internal control mechanisms and processes
  • Hands-on, strong technical expert, with solid understanding and experience in best practice accounting, system, and governance practices.
  • Proficient with large ERP systems, preferably SAP, with a proven ability to move through large amounts of data with advanced excel ability
  • Proven ability to be able to contribute to the process of continuous improvement of the financial or inventory accounting functions.
