Job Role: Senior Financial Accountant
Compensation range: PHP 1,620,000 per annum / Approx. $3,300 AUD / Monthly
Engagement type: Independent Contractor Agreement
Work Schedule: This role is expected to align with the AU business hours (approx. 9 AM - 5 PM, Monday to Friday) for collaboration, but as a contractor, you’ll have flexibility in how you manage your time.

Who The Client Is: We are a private equity–backed vocational education group operating multiple Registered Training Organizations in highly specialized niches. Established in the late 2010s, the business has grown rapidly through organic expansion and targeted acquisitions, delivering nationally recognized training to both secondary school students and adult learners. We partner with schools and healthcare providers across Australia, supporting tens of thousands of learners each year through a strong focus on quality delivery, regulatory compliance, and scalable operations.
Role Overview: We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Financial Accountant or Financial Controller on an independent contractor basis. This hands-on role is fully responsible for the accuracy, integrity, and completeness of the general ledger and all financial reporting for two entities.
The role also includes payroll and accounts payable, month-end close, financial reporting and analysis, and consolidation across both entities.
The role is expected to work with flexibility, with some days requiring longer hours and others less, depending on business needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting & Analysis
- Prepare monthly financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow)
- Provide variance analysis and commentary on monthly results
- Identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for improvement
- Present financial insights to management
General Ledger Management
- Maintain and review the general ledger for accuracy and completeness
- Ensure all transactions are coded correctly to appropriate accounts
- Monitor chart of accounts and recommend updates as needed
- Implement and maintain strong internal controls
Payroll Management
- Process bi-weekly/monthly payroll for two entities (50 and 20 employees respectively)
- Ensure accurate calculation of wages, taxes, and statutory deductions
- Maintain payroll records and ensure compliance with local regulations
Accounts Payable
- Enter supplier invoices accurately and in a timely manner
- Process weekly payment runs for both entities
- Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies
- Maintain vendor relationships and respond to payment queries
- Month-End Close & Reconciliations
- Prepare and post month-end journals (accruals, prepayments, depreciation, etc.)
- Perform comprehensive balance sheet reconciliations
- Investigate and resolve reconciling items promptly
- Ensure all accounts are accurately reconciled and documented
Requirements
Professional Qualifications:
- CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or equivalent professional accounting certification
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a senior financial accounting role or higher in reputed company
Technical Competencies:
- Demonstrated proficiency with accounting software packages (Xero, QuickBooks, or
- similar)
- Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, vlookups, formulas, financial modeling)
- Solid understanding of GST - when it applies and when it does not
- Knowledge of accounting standards and compliance requirements

Preferred Candidate Profile:
- Age range: 30-40 years
- Based in Manila (preferred) or other major Philippine city (Cebu, Subic)
- Previous experience managing accounting for a known entity
- Experience working remotely or as an independent contractor
Contractor Arrangement:
This is an independent contractor position, not an employment role. The successful
candidate will:
- Submit a monthly invoice for services rendered
- Be responsible for their own tax obligations and statutory contributions
- Work remotely with flexibility to manage their own schedule
Compensation Package:
Base Compensation
- Annual Contract Value: PHP 1,620,000
- Paid in 12 equal monthly installments of PHP 135,000
- Performance Incentive
- 13th month payment may be payable based on performance (indicators to be provided soon)
- Potential incentive: up to 7.5% of annual base
- Maximum potential incentive (year 1): PHP 121,500
Contract Renewal & Growth:
Upon successful completion (see below) of the first year:
- Year 2 base contract value will be Year 1 base plus any incentive paid
- Example: Year 1 base of PHP 1,650,000 + PHP 132,000 incentive = Year 2 base of PHP 1,782,000
- Year 2 will also have potential for up to 7.5% performance incentive on the new base
